Awesome! 1971 Pic of Papaw's new truck!!

I was digging through some boxes of junk the other day and found a hidden treasure! It was a picture of my grandfather's 1971 Chevy Custom/10 Deluxe with a slide in camper. The pic was taken when the truck was fairly new. He is the original owner of the truck and still owns it to this day. I own my other grandfather's old Chevy and can't wait to add this one to my collection. It is a 350 V8, auto, ac, deluxe interior, and all around nice truck. It still has the dealership stamped rear bumper. Remember when the dealerships put their badging in the cowl area between the fenders and the doors? He opted to replace the original white front bumper with a chrome one, but still has the original white one wrapped up under his house. He tried to give it to me for my '70 Blazer I had a few years ago. I was too lazy to get an extra set of marker lights to fill in the openings, or change the grille over.

Anybody else have any original photos?

Dean

Looks good. We need to have a South/Central Mississippi board meet sometime in the near future.

Must have been what mine looked like back in '68. The original owner bought it to haul his slide in camper and pull his boat for fishing trips. I'll have to see if my pops has some old pics when mine was the parts getter at our station.

That MS meeting would be great. Maybe we should hit the Byram car show sometime. Well, subtle71, putter, gman69 and myself have met there.

MS Meeting

I'm in for the MS meeting! Looks like my stepside will be out of the bodyshop in mid May. Just before Greenville. I finally made up my mind on the new wheels for the truck. The old Centerline Champ 500s are being replaced by Billet Specialties Vintec Dish 18"x9.5". I can't wait to get her back and put on all the new parts that have been piling up in the garage over the past six weeks. It has been like six weeks of Christmas around my house!

Count me in for a meeting!

Dean

PS: Anybody looking for a good deal on: two doors, rear stepside fenders, and a tailgate? pm me if so.

Whenever you guys are ready just say the word . I have been thinking of going to the car show in Byram and then maybe we could meet up at Cruising the Coast.
