Need help with starter, QUICK!

I was planning on taking my 3 year-old fishing this morning but I went out to start the truck and got nothing. No turn over, no clicking, nothing but the brake light on the dash. I have a new battery. I also have a starter cut off switch but it is on. The solenoid will usually engage with the cut off switch turned off, but right now, it does not engage even with the switch on. Does it sound like the solenoid or starter is bad? The last few times I've driven the truck I've had to turn the key a few times before it would even try to start. I had a leaky valve cover that completely soaked the starter with oil, could that cause connection problems? Is there something under the dash I should check? My son thanks you in advance.

Thanks. I just found out that I'm basically an idiot. Instead of trying to charge the battery first, I assumed since the battery is a week old and the truck was driven just 5 days ago, the battery wouldn't need charged. I was wrong. I think part the 15 feet of battery cable the previous owner installed rubbed against the battery tray and drained the battery. Now I just wonder if the battery is ruined.
