with taxes comming back soon i am looking at getting a new welder looking at getting the Hobart Handler 210MVP or the Millermatic® 211 Auto-Set™ with MVP like the idea of being able to use my 220 and if a friend needs to use it or in a pinch i can use it on 110 if i have to my question is the holbarts a little cheaper is it worth the few extra for the miller? holbart i am finding for 850 and the miller for 1100 and are the a good welder?

I have a Hobart Handler 187 and love it, however if I was buying one today it would be the Miller 220/110. Both are great machines, but the Auto-set is really neat and the ability to run on 110 is gold...trust me if you have a welder there will be alot more reasons to use it. People will want your help and you'll most likely be happy to shoot fire for them!

I have purchased & used both Hobart & Miller welders over the past few decades ....

In my opinion the Hobart is a great homeowner line.
And in recent times Miller has pretty much taken over the commercial / industrial market.

They are both quality machines, you can’t go wrong with either / or.

mmm if it's all tax money i'd go for the miller.. i love mine.. dunno why i waited so long lol. the miller has both style plugs as well. miller has a littler better drive pieces but they are both the same.. hobart = miller.

Where's the best place price wise to purchase one of the Miller setups?

Online all the millers I see run just under $1100 pretty much everywhere

Find a local Miller dealer. They all have room to move.

And work him like you would a used car salesman.

Either side of a $1000.00 is a good buy.

Just depends how hungry he is when you walk through the door. Let him know your serious, but your also price conscious as well.

After he is done moving the price (or not...) then start to talk about kicking in extras & consumables = gas, wire, nozzles, tip’s, gloves, lenses, ….. you get the idea.

Not much to move on here, But hey' every little bit helps out the bottom line.

When I was looking for a small TIG I found cyberweld.com had great prices on Miller machines and free shipping (hundreds less than my local gas supplier shop).

I agree go with the Miller. Just look at what used machines sell for and thats only if you can actually find any for sale. That should give you a good idea of the quality
