Proper color paint for A/C box restoration

I'm looking for a close match for paint for restoring my original A/C box etc. I found a nice thread awhile back that had some colors that would let the grain show through, but can't find it now. Kind of a grayish color maybe.

Re: Proper color paint for A/C box restoration

Go to NAPA and look at their tec line detail paints- you want to get cast blast or cast iron grey, it is the paint I used on both my 71 and 72- 71 is the one in the truck 72 is waiting to be installed in the 4x4. The paint lets the grain of the fiber glass show as it did originally. If you contact jimkshortstep he can give info to check POA valve. On the 4x4 box I used graphite duplicolor for details on valve, underhood black from tec-line (NAPA) on the back of the box and backets, and cast iron or cast blast on the front. Be sure to clean box with soap and water, get a new set of gaskets, heater core and have the evap core checked. On the insideboxes, the colors are sort of mixed up, brown/green and blacks. If you want it to blend into the interior/background paint it a semi gloss black and be done with it.
