My barn find (Warehouse )

I wanted to show better pictures of Josie my 1970 GMC Grand Sierra.
The build sheet is confusing.
Z17 and Z84 , Custom Trim over the door handle and Sierra Grande Trim?
Vinyl top and glove box?
I am sure it is a decent find, 71 k miles and runs real good.
I want to lower it , save parts and keep them to return her to stock if I ever want to.
The coils are HD all around, Is the 2 /4 CPP kit the least intrusive?
the paint is pretty good for 38 years, should I try to buff out?
I do have some cancer work
I want it to be heard also, glass packs or?

Nice looking truck! Would love to see a pic of that SPID, can you show us a pic of the glovebox label?

Interior is nice, I think he has original AM/FM.
He has a set of Anson Slots that he got when it was new.
They need som TLC.

Maybe a little more than TLC for these rims.
Should I keep the vinyl?
It has a new touneau cover that is black and brown,

Re: My barn find (Warehouse )

I'm digging that "Cowboy Caddilac" hat carrier.I don't "think" the Vinyl top is factory.IIRC they were a dealer or aftermarket item only.Has it had the cap it's whole life? If so the bed is probably nice.

Re: My barn find (Warehouse )

Yes to the cap , He was a AHQA Member, he used it for his Quarter Horse Trailer and had only the Tack inside. Saddles etc. The bed is pretty mint.
I only have to find an original set of valve covers and a new top to the air cleaner, he go rid of original. He actually had an 8 track under the console and some Hank Williams Sr. 8 tracks still. I am gonna take the cap off , maybe store it. I do not dig the look.

Re: My barn find (Warehouse )

So the vinyl top is actually on the build sheet?

Can you post a better picture of the vinyl top?

Re: My barn find (Warehouse )

Do you think this is worth the effort with the vinyl removal and trying to save the original paint? If I need to take it off ,I'm sure the whole thing will need paint.

I misunderstood your original post. I thought you had written that the vinyl top was part of the build sheet that was confusing.

If you have decent original paint, I would do everything in your power to keep it. For the vinyl top, you could always take it off and then repaint the top white. It would actually be a pretty easy project.

Re: My barn find (Warehouse )

I do not know about the head rests, I think that there are a few wierd things on this truck. The custom emblem over the handle, with the Sierra Grande trim? It is on the build sheet but I have never seen it before.

What about lowering coil kits? I want to keep it as close to stock but the HD springs front and back make it way to high.

You actually found the build sheet? Or are you taking about the SPID label on the inside of the glovebox door?

I especially like the little guy hanging from the rearview mirror! That's a one of kind for sure!

Lucky you for finding such a treasure. I think you are probably one of the only people I've heard of that can actually claim your truck as "Rare" and be able to prove it.

Way to go!

IMO......Leave that "Survivor" alone. The only thing I would do is clean it up. What you have there is worth more left alone "as is".
