new doors!

I need to replace the doors and tailgate on my '72 GMC K1500. Are NOS parts available? I'm afraid there is a wide range of quality in the aftermarket parts out there. I wan't to minimize fitment issues. Any suggestions? LMC? Brothers? Auto Metal Direct?

Thanks for your help.

Re: new doors!

The last NOS door I saw was listed for $900 and NOS tailgates are about the same $$. I would look for good used ones, whick might be difficult to find in your area. I have never used aftermarket stuff, so I can't help there.

Re: new doors!

I got two new doors from Offshore in Lethbridge. The fitment was less than perfect but they worked. Good luck.

Re: new doors!

Definatly try to find some good used ones. I got some triplus doors for my 67, and in order to make them fit I had to cut the door frame down, and bend it outwards. I also have an aftermarket tailgate. It fit better than the doors but still not perfect. They will work but be prepared when they dont fit like you want.

I have yet to see reproduction doors that meet my standards. I have tried all different manufacturers and they all have enough issues that I always advise my customers to fix what they have. We have the panels to do so and the results are better if you fis rather than repair. So if yours are shot..., then I would be on the hunt for good used doors. At least good repairable doors. WES

There ya go, if a vendor tells you to stay away from the repro doors its probably a good idea to take his advise.

For the cost of a one NOS door you could have two stock doors made pristine by a good body guy.

Re: new doors!

I am in Kelowna and have a set of original rust-free doors that have been restored (ready for high-build and final block sand) and also have a "mint" tailgate. Shoot me your email and I can send you some pics and info.
