One piece windows

Has anyone here installed a one piece window kit from ECE? If so what do you think? I like the look so I'm just trying to find the best kit.

There is also http://www.onepieceproducts.com/ in Whittier, CA. Their kit doesn't have the little aluminum triangle in the corner. I've talked to them and they said they would install them if you bring your truck to their shop. You are close enough that that is doable, just a thought.

I been thinking of doing the same thing. I was just on Brother's website, and they are having a sale on the one-piece window kit for $293. Regular price is $449. But still, I don't know how well these kits are and the complexity involved.

Well the questions I posed to OPP was: had previous concerns about fitment been addressed, they said yes, long ago. I also asked: could I realistically drive at freeway speeds with the windows cracked and not have glass dangerously flopping around, the answer was again yes, no problem. These, to me, should be the concerns.

A one piece glass conversion has 2 fundamental issues in these trucks, first the doors were not sized to accommodate a full front to back chunk of glass, so it barely fits, and secondly the window regulator uses the track on the back side of the vent window as the glass guide and support and original windows are not supported substantially below the visible glass like they would be in a typical vehicle that has this type of glass from the factory. Removing the vent window, removes the primary support point these windows have originally and leaves an unsupported leading edge in a vehicle with the aerodynamics of a brick.

For me, being that my project is a Jimmy, I have the compounded issue that the doors are frameless so I have no rear support to the glass either. I plan on using bullet style sport mirrors on my build so I have to decide between setting mirrors possibly too far back to be useful so they clear the vent windows, using one piece glass, or basically disabling the operation of the vent windows. Which it is I haven't decided yet.

Member jtp67-72 installed these recently. Maybe ask him for his thoughts of the product and install process. I think they look great, just a little pricey for me

i have the brothers kit , one side is great and the other has been nothing but trouble
if i had it to do over again i would have kept my wing windows, but i have heard that opp kit is supposed to be better.

I believe the brothers and ECE kit have the filler piece and the OPP kit doesn't.

I have the Brothers one piece kit on my truck. They were already on from the PO when I bought the truck. After replacing one of my window regulators a few weeks ago, I have since come to dislike them as re-installing them was a complete PITA. Functionally they work just fine, but as my previous C10 had the factory vents I really miss being able to have fresh air blow into the cab without actually having to roll down the windows. Also the plastic on the window scrapers that come with the kit makes a horrible squealing sound once they get a little bit dirty and you roll up the windows. Overall they are alright, but I wouldn't mind going back to factory windows with vents myself.

had some trouble with it looks great might just be me be if i live close to them i would check with with them

Check the installation video on both the OPP and Brother's web sites.

I used the Brother's kit on my truck. Brother's could have done a better job on their video to include ALL of the pitfalls of the installation. The window scrapers don't fit correctly either. The kit has short comings but all in all I am glad I went with the one piece glass.

The OPP video clearly shows what someone else said about that big piece of glass being hard to get into that old door and I have heard the OPP kit is hard to make weather tight (although they may have fixed that problem by now).

Do your home work.
