Can someone tell me the names of these seals?
here's the pic. I don't know the names, so it's kinda hard to get new ones. It's a TH400 Tranny. Thanks for any help.

Here is what I do when I don't know a name to a part. I take the part off the truck and go to the parts store or the Chevy dealerships parts counter. Show them the parts that I need and see if the can provide. Usually they can fix you up.
Hope this helps |

#1 is an adaptor. You may be able to get a replacement gasket from a speedometer, or transmission shop.
#2 is the speedometer driven gear sleeve. It takes an O ring. Also available at the transmission shop, or a GM dealer. I suggest replacing the driven gear itself while you have it apart. If you have trans fluid leaking out of the adaptor, it is following the gear shaft thru the sleeve, and should not do that. I suspect the shaft on the driven gear is very worn. They are just plastic, and color coded for replacement. When replaceing the gasket in the adaptor, it should actually be packed with grease. You may consider just taking the adaptor to a speedometer shop. They can set up a complete replacement unit at a low cost, or clean, inspect, pack, and replace the gasket for you.

I just replaced this on my th400. I replaced the #2 part of your picture. It isthe speedometer gear housing. The Gm dealership said to get the o ring inside I hade to buy the whole housing which was around $45. The speedometer gear was replaced as well (this was only$6) because it was worn around where the seal rubbed. I did not replace part #1 because they told me that fluid should never be past part #2. So if you replace the speedometer gear and gear housing(which comes with a new o-ring) then you should be fine with the part #1 you have.
hope this helps.
