Window Crank and Door Handle Removal
I cannot get those things off. I know there is a pin or spring that holds them on but no luck. Any tips, advise, prayers are all welcome. Idiot proof pictures would be great.

You need to visit the local auto parts store and pick up a window crank removal tool for a few bucks
There is a C clip behind each handle, use the tool like this: |

I alwys use a screw driver to gently pry the handle out a bit and a needle nose plier or tweezer to grab the clip. It would be much easier to by the right tool though.

I use a piece of coathanger wire with a 1"x3" loop on one end for maneuverability, & a tiny hook (bent, then cut) on the other end that grabs the clip in the center. Watch those clips, they tend to fly out of sight real fast.

even with that tool it can be a pain in the arse, especially if those clips get bent, ive found that the original clips work a lot better then the ones on the help rack at the parts store too, so like jimfulco says, dont let them go flyin!

I bought one of the tools 67c10step has pictured above after about 10 years of trying to use the methods others talked about.
BUY THE TOOL Not having that tool is like trying to remove a phillips head screw with a coat hanger.

I've got one of those tools, been using it for years.
Some other methods will cause damage.

I have one of the removal tools, but have also used the free paint can openers from the hardware stores. Slide the curved tip under the handle and it will fit around the center of the clip. Just pull the clip out.

The clip removal tool is well woth the money! Since no one else mentioned it, you don't need the tool for reinstalling the clip, just push the clip all the way back in place and slip the handle back on to the shaft. The end of the shaft is tapered and the clip slips over it and locks into place. Took me a couple of years to figure that one out!
