Build is taking so long I got another truck

A couple of years ago I got a 69 c10 SWB and started tearing it apart to rebuild. It became so daunting to do I had to find a way to stay motivated. Here it is.

Nice. So, we can plan to see the pile of parts on CL when?

Re: Build is taking so long I got another truck

Thanks guys, the 69 still a project I want to pursue. Just needed something to enjoy in the meantime. Plans for this one don't include a lot. In a debate on painting it(same color scheme) or leaving it alone... I like both ideas. But the 69 is in the middle of new floors and rockers to be followed with smooth firewall, new engine build, then the slow reassembly.

OK, so very nice new truck but what does IT need? Surely you will now have two projects going on at once.

Re: Build is taking so long I got another truck

Immediate needs that I see:
New wiring. (Luckily I have a friend that's an American autowire customer)
And that pesky paint dilemma
But really solid otherwise.

Nice truck! One of my favorite color schemes. It really works well on long beds!! I say leave the paint alone, looks good enough to drive. Then you won't have to worry about scratches etc from enjoying it. Besides, you won't be able to do a half a$$ paint job, so you will tear it apart, then you will have two projects. That will be even more daunting! Wish I would have found that when I was in Houston!

Thanks! The paint thing wouldn't even be a debate(I wouldn't do it) if my uncle wasn't a body man with a shop out in west tx, so I drop the truck and the cash off say goodbye to the truck for a month and it's done... Maybe go learn something in the process. But even if that does happen, it will be after the electrical. And some enjoyment. I have some more pictures I'll post tomorrow. The paint photographed well on this pic, it's rough but body is straight.

Re: Build is taking so long I got another truck

I did the same thing. I have a 67 firebird in a pile of parts and rust, so I went out and bought a "done" 65 mustang (still have my C10, of course).

That's a nice truck!

Re: Build is taking so long I got another truck

Thanks guys, I kept a look out and had to drive a few hours for this one, but it sure seems worth it. I did some cleaning today(just some soap/water/elbow grease), there's a cruise in this weekend that I'm gonna take it to. Still some little oddities that I'm discovering and fixing. But all in all I'm very pleased. Changing all the fluids today, so I know when and what is in it. Wasn't completely satisfied with how it ran so did some checking of basics: pulled plugs and gapped them correctly. Amazing what that will do.
