5.3L 4l60E Good price???
I have been looking for a 5.3l or 6.0l for my dad's 68 project. I found a local "WRECKED 2002 EXPRESS CARGO VAN.ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION BOTH GOOD (LOW MILES)" It has 80,000 miles and was a delivery van around town. He wants $1,400 for the entire van. He said the engine and tranny are fine but the rest of the van is totaled. Would this be a good deal? He is sending me pictures tonight when he gets off of work. I will post them then. What have you guys been picking this engine and tranny combo up for?

"delivery van " would worry me. Even though the miles are fairly low, a commerical vehicle may have been mistreated. ( kinda like you would treat a rental car compared to your own ride) From what I understand the wrecking yards are full of 5.3 engines and you might want to give a few a call to see what they go for in you area.

you should be able to find one with lower miles that is not out of a delivery van for about $800

Re: 5.3L 4l60E Good price???
So from a wrecking yard I should beable to find the motor, trany, wiring, and computer under 80,000 miles for around $800? This will be good info, I plan on starting to call around to the different wrecking yards soon.

I've looked at some local wrecking yards websites and they want 1200 to 1500 dollars for engine, transmission, transfer case and wiring harness. I would like one for my 69 blazer. They must advertise their prices like pawn shops.........you would have to haggle.

You are probably going to need a stand alone wiring harness from some one like painles. Weeding through those harness is a nightmare

Re: 5.3L 4l60E Good price???
I picked up my 5.3 out of a 03 tahoe with 60 thousand on it, harness, pedal and everything else without a tranny for 650$, so the deals are out there. And I got my harness redone and computer tuned for $360. Now I just gotta put it in. Oh and I build trannys for a living so that's covered.

Re: 5.3L 4l60E Good price???
My local junkyard that I do a lot of business with told me roughly 800.00 for an engine, tranny, wiring and computer for a 5.3 with about 60-80k miles.

Re: 5.3L 4l60E Good price???
The only thing I can say about this is: I drive a similar van for work everyday, and I know a lot of people that do also. DO NOT buy a delivery van motor/trans/anything. You are just asking for it if you do.
