Front End Rebuild Replace Repair

Hi
I'm stripping down the front end of my truck and wondering what you guys think should I replace everything since I have it apart?
I will replace all the joints should I rebuild the wheels cylinders and calipers turn the rotors? or just replace them? What about the hardware can it be reused or replace?

I have the rest of the truck down to the frame just need some input
Thanks

Re: Front End Rebuild Replace Repair

Since it's to the frame ,I would replace anything vaguely marginal. When you finish a frame off you will want to cruise it instead of having to fix stuff you didn't repair/replace.I wouldn't replace calipers unless I thought they were original or they leaked.I would turn the rotors and repack the wheel bearings.I would replace the hoses for the brakes. It's easier with the body out of the way and unless they've been replaced they are 40 years old.The bolts and such should be fine unless they are badly rusted or threads are bad.Replace any that don't seem to unbolt well or that have skinny spots from rust/wear.

Re: Front End Rebuild Replace Repair

wheel cylinders and calipers are sooo cheap that if need just go to the local autoparts store and get them off the shelf

I agree. A pair of calipers is going to run about 30 bucks from the parts store. Replace them. You can never tell how much corrosion is on the inside of them.

No sence in throwing away a set of good rotors as long as they are thick enough to be serviceable. There is nothing really that goes wrong with them. I don't even turn them unless they need it either. No sense in removing material from them needlessly. Your brake pads will wipe any moderate rust right off of them within the first few feet of use.
