Hello, my name is Scot, and I'm a . . ....

Dumb A**!!!

Well after sorting my brake dillemma out over the weekend, I moved on to correct the rubbing problem from the suspension being too low. I pulled the front springs & swapped back to the factory springs . . .... minus one coil. Presto, raised it enough that I was able to actually drive around the block w/o any rubbing . . .... and it even stopped when I wanted it too!

Now for the ugly part. TIP: Always take before & after measurements of the vehicle when performing suspension mods to use for reference. When taking these measurements, make sure the vehicle is set up the same (air psi, person sitting in truck, spare tire/tools etc) . . ....

Hhmmm? Set up the same? Weight? (about this time the lightbulb went on).

My initial measurements were taken after getting the truck home, then topping the tires w/32psi & w/an empty bed. Recent measurements after the drop were taken w/an extra set of leafs in the bed, plus a full size spare, 2-upper/2-lower control arms, a set of coils, misc. nuts & bolts in the bed (of course the air was checked & was @ 32psi!!!!). In my hectic pace to try & get this project back on the road asap, I didn't stop to consider all the crap I'd been accumulating back there was starting to add significant weight.

We all do dumb stuff every now and then. I cut a set of coils on my Camaro, put them back in, and took a measurement. ???? It was the same as before. I cut the spring again, and put it back in and measured. ???? Still the same as before.

I call my buddy and he asks me how far I drove it after I put it back together. Drove it? I didn't drive it! I just put it back together.

Needless to say, after I actually drove it around and it settled, I was much lower than I had planned. My good fortune was I had a friend that had a set of stock springs so I could start over....

N2TRUX, that project is still a sore spot w/me but I'll get over it knowing it went to the best of homes . . .....

Hanging out Sat & dinner was excellent! Glad we got a chance to get the families together. Looking forward to HeatWave . . .... I better check into getting a room or something.

Are y'all going to stay overnight? I never got a chance to discuss it with you. We are staying on the other side of Austin. It's a bit of a drive, but we are doing the family thing too while we are there.

I want to see the Rambler w/18's & 20's. That little car is going to be the sh!t when it's done. Keith told me about one a while back that was out in Cali. It still had original faded white paint, the delux style trim, w/hub-caps & auto (I think). It would've looked soooo sweet w/salt flats & air-ride.

No doubt, it's going to look killer. I have a preview pic if you want to see it. He put Rich's wheels off the blue 55 on it to see what he thought. Of course the backspace was all wrong, but it will give you an idea.

BTW- Roger e-mailed me about my wheels. The faggots at Billet Specialties FINALLY decided the right thing to do was send me new wheels...
