Vacuum Port For Power Brakes

I'm going to use my intake for the vacuum on my power brakes. What does the fitting look like that I will need for the intake? Thanks.

Here's a start. It depends on what other options your truck has in addition to power brakes. GM used the same intake port for auto trans and A/C.

I got a Spectre chrome fitting with a 90 degree elbow. Autozone had it in one of the aisles.

I think you will find engine coolant under the plug circled...

Directly behind the carb there should be a port in the intake manifold to connect vacuum as in this picture ( brass fitting) or at the base of your carb. I have mine attached to the base of the carb..line just above the brass fitting.

There should be a port on the back of your carb with a large nipple for the brake booster connection...like mine. You can use either the manifold direct or carb. If you have an automatic trans, the tranny modulator is probably already hooked up to your manifold..

To clarify...

The earlier trucks (before 1971?) did not have a port on the back of the carb for brakes. The factory used the port on the rear of the manifold on the passenger side. They also attached the vacuum lines to the transmission modulator and A/C canister to the same port (if equipped with auto trans and A/C). Here's a pic of where mine is on my original '69 350. However, I'm not sure if the fitting is what would have been on a factory power brake setup with A/C and auto since I had the power brakes added by the dealer as a condition of original sale in 1969.

First what is needed is to know what Alum. Manifold or Aftermarket Alum Manifold he's using. I have two, one is on my truck it is a Edelbrock Performer Manifold with a screw in tap at the front driver side and that is for water (just like circled) but in front, and one tap for Vac/air behind Carb on raised mount for Carb. My other is a Edelbrock Torker and again same location under backside of Carb. only one air/vac port on it. I belive that any air/vac port of a Manifold is whats needed. Others will chime in if I am wrong.

Looks like it's hex. If so, one of these in the proper size should do the job assuming it's not metric.
