What to use for Choke Delete

Hey Guys.

I'm ditching my choke cable, as it's no longer needed. I've seen several dash pictures that show plugs in that hole. Since I'm too lazy to look mysel, for plugs that will fit, I was hoping some members could let me know what they've used to plug the hole and provide some pictures to help me in my decision.

Thank you.

Re: What to use for Choke Delete

I would just leave it, and wrap the cable up and ziptie it under the dash somewhere

If you want something that looks like a correct vintage piece, you could just use a chrome spring finger hole plug. Our local tractor supply store has a variety of sizes to pick from. I believe the choke hole is probably around 3/8” – 1/2". The lighter hole is much bigger. You could also paint the plug if you don’t want it to be conspicuous.

Here’s a link to the style sold by Lowe’s. I’m not sure what selection they offer as far as sizing goes.

There are even smaller sizes designed to fit into an allen bolt socket head.

I agree with MarkeB, You would definitely have to drill it out larger, but the plug would be period correct....guess it depends on what your plan for the truck is. Could also use the cable pull for something else....get crafty with it. Ive toyed with using the throttle knob and a longer cable and trying to make a locking hood latch....still in the blueprint stage

combined with a 79-87 inside hood latch, I like this idea!
