'67 Chevy Stepside
I'm looking at buying a '67 Chevy Stepside. It has factory air on the truck. It doesn't have a motor or tranny. Does anyone know if the air would have been put on at the factory. The glove box door says "Deluxe Air Heater Option # 4C42AA" The only other listings on the sheet are CS10704 w/base 115, 4M17AA 3 Speed Transmission, 4752AA Foam Seat, 4514AA Paint. Can anyone tell me what the factory color was for this truck? I can figure out is that it came from the factory with a 6 cyl 3 speed, but would appreciate all other information.

Re: '67 Chevy Stepside
Does it have the a/c openings in the dash, if so it should be an original a/c truck.

Re: '67 Chevy Stepside
It does have the factory outlets in the dash. Do you have any idea of what the glove box lid codes mean?

Re: '67 Chevy Stepside
Harley, Hello and welcome to the site. Your truck was RED from the factory. The Code 4514 AA is long code for RPO code 514 red.
CS10704 decodes as C=2WD S=6cyl 1= 1/2 ton 07= short wheel base 04= stepside box All the rest of your descriptions are correct for your codes.

Re: '67 Chevy Stepside
The a/c would be listed as on option if it was original.

Re: '67 Chevy Stepside
Thanks for all of the welcomes and all of the info everyone gave...very helpful. Any idea what "option #4C42AA deluxe air heater" means? I have talked to so many people and this one question has everyone stumped. Does it mean that it has factory ac? The truck does have factory air now, I'm just trying to find out if it came from the factory that way, if it was dealer installed or if it's been installed after leaving the dealership.

Re: '67 Chevy Stepside
Factory A/C would be in the dash, dealer A/C would be an under-dash unit. The "deluxe air heater" was just a fancy way of saying it had a heater. If it was factory A/C, it should say "4 seasons ...something..." on the SPID. In my '67 accessory booklet there is a "thrift air heater" listed. From what I can see, you have to manually open the doors instead of them being cable operated. I have yet to see one.
