Re: s10 short bed corrected wheel base

it was great checking out your build.kind of sucks that you put in all that work and it rides so rough.try taking out a leaf and if it works add in a block to make up the height difference(but that may make it more bouncy) or try a different shock.your back end may be to light weight(how does it ride with a load in it) because a shortbed s10 truck doesnt ride rough.unfortunately you may need to buy an extended cab frame or long bed frame and swap everything over. you could extend the frame in the middle by welding a frame section in, but that is two weld points on each side or weld in a back section off a long bed for 1 weld point ,which would be way easier. but alot of people seem to not like frames welded together. when it comes to resale and question safety.

Re: s10 short bed corrected wheel base

i though of just welding a piece in the middle of the frame. i found the thread i was looking for over on killbillet .com. i am going to move thr front spring hangers back and cut an flip the rear shackle part of the frame. weld it back together. here is a pic of my truck.

Re: s10 short bed corrected wheel base

I used a 4 door S10 Blazer for my swap. I had to lengthen it 9" to get the wheel base correct. I did it at the rear axle and moved the spring back as you mentioned. It was easy. Don't know if lengthing your wheel base would make it ride any smoother though.

Re: s10 short bed corrected wheel base

scratch what i said about removing a leaf. thats kinda the nature of adding a flatbed to a truck that normally had a regular bed and having a it a short frame doesnt help either.i think your back end may be to light(does it ride good with a load in it) or try a real good shock because like a said above a stock shortbed s10 truck doesnt ride rough.who know the entire truck body may be lighter then the s10.

Re: s10 short bed corrected wheel base

have good shocks. monroe sense a tracks. i want to get the wheel base to look right too. it looks kinda funny with the wheels so close to the cab and longer at the back. i also need to get some drop spindles for the front cause it sits a little low in the back.

Re: s10 short bed corrected wheel base

if you lower the truck you might like how your wheelbase looks .i was wondering how do you use your truck, for hauling or just cruizin? because if you are using it for cruizin get yourself some 2 inch drop spindles and two inch drop springs in the front and in the back remove a leaf in your spring pack, lower it the rest of the way with lowering blocks in the rear and cut down or get yourself shorter bump stops.(it would be better to buy lowered leaf springs in the rear but they are about $200).if you are hauling do 2 inch drop spindles in the front and 2 inch blocks in the rear.so how does your truck ride when you put some weight in the back?

Re: s10 short bed corrected wheel base

mostly cruizin but next summer i will be using it as a daily driver too so it will be a dual use. i can't go too low with the truck as we have really bad roads around here. like 6 to 8 inch deep pot holes. some the size of a man hole cover. i'll put the drop spindles on the front to give it a little of a rake to the front. the back of the truck is the height i want. i have a really good idea for the bed i want to put on the truck.

Re: s10 short bed corrected wheel base

Look at Killbillet's site He found a neet way to extend the S10 short wheel base to fit the AD's longer wheel base. His site shows step by step how he did it. This may be a solution to your truck.
