Which intake should i use? 383 stroker with vortec heads?
So idk why i didn't think of this before but i just recently rebuilt my sbc 350 into a 383. The motor came out of my 78 k20. I put vortec heads on it just thinking my old edelbrock intake would bolt right up! But i was wrong ha. So my question is what intake will work with my current set up and still be carburated. Any thing will help! Thanks. Would also prefer the intake be edelbrock.

Get the headers to fit your '78 with a 350.

If you get the air-gap manifold, you need to run the thermac air cleaner setup, or have some other arrangement for carb heat, or the carb will never warm up in the winter and you will get miserable gas mileage and performance. See here:

Exhaust is the same from old and newer vortec style heads. Intake manifold and rocker arms are the only required changes.

Before bolting on your stock exhaust manifolds or headers, use a gasket as a template to make sure the top of the manifold or header port is as tall or taller than the port on the head. If not, do some grinding, because that's the last place you want to hinder exhaust flow, because velocity is much higher up there where the gasses are making a sharp turn.
Also, some header tubes may be very close the spark plugs on Vortec heads, since the plugs sit closer to the exhaust ports. Pre-vortec OEM gasket on Vortec head. Your exhaust manifolds may also cover up the top of the port. Fel-Pro gasket for 96-up Vortec engine.
