Hi all:
glad to register in this big Chevy website, I have 67 C-10 SWB with L6 engine, I am stuck not knowing the engine size (CID).
her some numbers and VIN, wish anyone can decode it for me, tell me what size is that engine:
1- VIN ( CS10704 ).
2- engine casting# 3580817
2- # on pad just behined the distributer (FI23IAC).

I appreciate your help. Thanks.

The VIN won't have the engine size in it, other than to tell you it came with a 6 originally (the S in the CS...) Somebody else will jump up and tell you exactly what it is later today, I'm sure, but I'm fairly certain it's a 250. Most of the base model trucks had that engine.

Look at the motor mounts, if the are directly oposite each other, then it is a 250. If they are staggared, then you have a 292.
If the spid lebel is still in the glove box, and lists no engine, then you originaly had a base motor, which in the S serries, would be a 250.

Welcome! Like Longhorn said, if the mounts are staggered, it's a 292. If they're even it's a 250.

250 has fuel pump offset towards the front of the engine. 292 fuel pump is centered.

There are three sizes of L6 - 235, 250 and 292. Most common in 67-72 are the 250 and 292.

Here is a picture of my L6-250. Look at it closely - notice the two rectangular covers below the spark plugs. on the 292, these are almost twice as tall. also, on this picture notice the fuel pump is the silver circle that has the rubber hose going into it - notice how its position is in FRONT of the motor mount and towards the front of the engine. This is how a L6 - 250 is setup, as previously noted. If you have a 292, you will find the fuel pump is centered on the block, almost directly below the two rectangular plates i mentioned previously.

Saudia Arabia is one of the largest American auto importers in the whole world since six decades, my 67 C-10 became now a classic and it is hard to find some parts for pre 70's.
This truck was first owned by ARAMCO (Arabian American Oil Company), they mostly uses the light duty trucks with SWB and low GVW.

sorry I missed reply on your info, thank you for your explanantion about the fuel pump, mine is at the front RH side of engine, so definately it is 250 CID.

Hey Hamid, and welcome from Northeast Tennessee. As I am sure you know by now. This site has got to be the best site for info. for these old trucks. It would be nice to see some pictures of your truck. because some of the exports has different body panels. such as the beds especially.

A lot of people in the USA aren't really aware of the imports and whatnot that GM does to S.A. in particular.

If I am not mistaken, the Impala SS is still sold in S.A. right now. A close friend of mine has the low-down on this topic. You guys would be surprised

I checked up on that scene a few years ago. The Caprice was still being built in S.A., with a Caprice SS variant. Not sure about the Impala.

And that looks like a 250 engine.

Welcome from Utah, Hamid. I'm curious about that air filter-I wonder if it's original? Would 200 be HP? I didn't think 250's had them kind of ponies. Also, I see it's a heater delete-I'm surprised that there is no air conditioning.

94-96 Caprice == 94-96 Impala SS

At least that's what I gather. They just call it a Caprice SS over there, but suspension and engine are supposedly the same.

Yeah, I know. I've got a '92 Caprice and have done some research on them. But they *still* produce the Caprice over in S.A., same car as the Holden Commodore, which is actually supposed to be coming over here soon, I believe as a Pontiac variant, like the new GTO. They called them the Caprice SS in S.A. with no Impala variant.

Crap. I had all the pages bookmarked, and now they're all down, so I'm forced to go with my admittedly spotty memory. Ain't that just the way it goes...
