Trying to Find Build Date

Sorry if this has already been answered in a previous thread, but I searched for awhile and couldn’t find anything. I’ve found the model and vin number decoders, which tell the model year of my truck, but I’m curious if there’s a way to find out what day, or at least month, my truck was built in based on the serial number. I guess it’d be serial number ranges that I’m looking for. If it helps, my vin is ccs232a177377 and the model number is cs20903.

Re: Trying to Find Build Date

Check for the blue gm tag on the drivers door jamb
If you have it the month and year will be in the upper right corner
Without that you will guesstimate with parts dates like on the dash printed circuit or other items

Re: Trying to Find Build Date

If you don't have the driver's door blue sticker, recommend ask member SSTim, he can often cross ref a VIN to an approx, or exact, build month (depending on VIN and available nearby build date VINs).

Re: Trying to Find Build Date

Last week of June to the second week of July is my best guess.
Do you have the protect o plate? It has the build month on it.
blue door sticker has build month on it.
Do you have the original engine? What is the application code stamped on the block?

Edit jocko, Do you have any 1972 Atlanta SPIDs past 179129?

Re: Trying to Find Build Date

Thanks for the replies. I’ll have to check for that plate when I get home; but I imagine it’s there. I’m afraid that I don’t have the original engine though, so I’ll just have to see if I have the plate.
