exhaust system

I am changing over from single exhaust to dual on a 1970 c10 4x4 (yes, title says c10 though it is a factory 4x4).

I have the original ram's head exhaust manifolds. everywhere i look seems to be really expensive. does anyone sell the flexible tubing anymore- that i could use/ create my own exhaust system rather than dropping 4-500 bucks?

Re: exhaust system

I built my own, have about $275 for it all including mufflers. You'll need a welder or oxy/acetylene. (that's for 2.5" I'm running vette rams horns.)

You might find an exhaust shop that could do it for not much more & it would look better due to less welds.

Re: exhaust system

A kit from Heart Throb exhaust. LMC is a dealer. The fit is good. And it is mandrel bent. Not sure if any other vendors deal with Heart Throb.

Re: exhaust system

X2 on Heartthrob, I forgot about them. I've used their kits before & they fit well. They didn't offer a 2.5" kit or I would have used them instead of building my own.

Re: exhaust system

I had 2 driver side pipes from my 79 that I put on my 71 with only 1 small mod. Went right on with no issues. Basically 1 bend in them.

Re: exhaust system

X3 on Heartthrob. I put their dual system on my 1971 1/2 ton 4x4 more than 16 years ago (I remember doing the job in the driveway of a house I sold 16 years ago).

The only thing missing in the box they sent to my doorstep was a frame hanger for the side that doesn't have the factory hanger for single exhaust. I used a generic piece from the local NAPA.

FWIW, I ordered my kit from LMC truck before it was fashionable on this forum to say bad things about them.

Re: exhaust system

I have a Heartthrob exhaust on my 2WD 3/4 ton. It works well. Great customer service from Heartthrob also. I bought mine at Auto Accessories Garage. It costs less than from LMC after the 20% discount AND shipping is free. Here's a link to the 4WD system with the "stock" mufflers and behind the tires exit. Other mufflers (or none) and rear exit versions are also available.

Re: exhaust system

chahanging my 67 K10 from a 6 to an 8. I would have used Heartthrob but their system will not work with a T221 transfercase. I have rams horns and am using flexpipe till I can get to a muffler shop. Advance auto parts sells them about $10 each
