Are there any nicknames for lifted 2WD's

I went to Vegas last weekend....I was being pestered with pan handlers galore as I was filling up my gas tank....on the other side of the pump pulls in this lifted 1992 chevy blazer. So to avoid the pan handlers, I quickly engaged into a convo with this guy. He had super swampers on those 16 inchers and it had a 8 inch lift with a 2 inch body lift. I thought it was 4wd. I asked him where he likes to go off roading. He said he never does. I asked why then the lift and the new tires. He said "looks!!! Makes it look tuff!!!" I could not believe it. Then he said it's not even 4WD. Mabee it's just me or I just didn't get this guy. So my question is...are there any names for these 2wd's? If not....we need one to make fun of them!!!!!

Re: Are there any nicknames for lifted 2WD's

If it has long travel and is built to romp at high speeds across the desert as a street version of a SCORE or SNORE racing machine(or even an attempt to look like it could) I`d call it a prerunner. If it was all shiney`d up and purdy with polished wheels and basically a cosmetic job to make it look cool I`d call it a mall cruiser.

Re: Are there any nicknames for lifted 2WD's

I call it "Pre-Runner" when they look good.

I call the older ones with the rear-end jacked up rear end and aggresive tires on the back two, but bald ones on the front "Poor Farmers 4wd" or "tractor"

I call the ones that are nice new and shiny, "Pavement Queens" "Making up for something smaller" "Mall Crawlers" "Asphalt Mudders"

I can't believe how many names I have for them.

Re: Are there any nicknames for lifted 2WD's

Calling all lifted 2wds prerunners is like calling all 4wds rock crawlers. It takes certain equipment to make a prerunner and mostly long travel suspension.

could be dragging a frame on the ground, to each his own though...

I can't blame a guy for saving a few thousand and better MPG for a 2WD.. then lift it to make it look cool...

Re: Are there any nicknames for lifted 2WD's

Seems like folks who don't live in the Southwest don't get it. We don't have mud snow or ice most places out here in the desert. If you know how to drive, a 2wd with a posi, decent tires, and ground clearence can get you just about anywhere a 4x can, and they're faster, get better mileage, and have less crap to maintain or break.

I have a 4x4 suburban that I like to off road in, but honestly my slightly lifted 2wd Dakota with a 4.11 posi and 33x10.50's will go almost anywhere the burb will in the dez, except maybe some hill climbs. I take it off road mainly to the areas I ride my dirt bikes, including the dunes.

Even my old 2wd S10 did allright off road. Could have used a posi though.

Call me poser if you want, but 2wd's make sense out here. When was the last time a 4x4 won a Score race?

K14-

no one is calling you a poser..... and you didn't have any lifts done for looks either....you use your setups for good purposes. I'm sure if you wanted to play in the sand all year round, you'd have a rock crawler. And I have broken more parts on the front suspension of my 88 2wd truck than on my whole 1991 suburban....now if you are comparing IFS always breaking, I can understand that point. I hate IFS!!!!...your burb looks sweet....any more pics?

Lowered.

If a lifted 2wd is a why, then why isn`t this 4wd?I can`t imagine the front drive shaft is really need.I doubt it would ever be driven anywhere a 2wd couldn`t go.I really like it.You couldn`t romp this like a prerunner. It would be on it`s top quick.

Yeah out here in Vegas I'd say that "poser" 4x4s outnumber "poser 2wds" like 50:1. I see a lot more of these:

Than these:

But these are the funniest to me WTF?:

To each his own I guess?

Re: Are there any nicknames for lifted 2WD's

I only lift enough to clear tires.Anything else is retarded. That`s not opinion, that`s scientific fact because it`s dangerous.I also only lift to put bigger tires on to make my 4wd perform better off road. But,that`s the just me part. That truck is for show...obviously!
I used to cut fenders to keep it lower, before these trucks got to be classic gems.

Re: Are there any nicknames for lifted 2WD's

Nicknames? Not really... I usually just roll my eye's at the silly ones.
Though, the whole "prerunner" name and theme is sooo played out here that it's just a plain ol' joke if you are driving one that isn't a "true" prerunner which are borderline illegal to drive on the streets anyways.
It's just another fad thing, and hopefully it will pass one of these days.

2009 SCORE Baja 1000 Class 3 winners Darren Skilton/Jon Krellwitz and Skyler Gambrell

There are winners all the time in the 4x4 class 3 group.

I do agree though, that most people outside of the South West don't really understand, since our style is mostly dry dirt/sand and rocks. So the jacked up super swamper style rig is mostly just show around here for the most part, where around the region I live it's all about basic ground clearances, endurance to the heat and sharp rocks, and lot's of all out power that lasts.

The S.C.O.R.E. hosts all kinds of off road vehicles and bikes.

Here is a cool video for your viewing pleasure.

Well. . . yeah, I guess I meant-how did they finish compared to the 2wd trophy thrucks, truggies, class 10's etc? (Let's not even bring up the motorcycles)

Someone wins class 11 in a stock VW bug as well as "stock" pickups in other classes, but the fastest vehicles by far are 2wd, or 1wd.

Cool video btw-thanks for sharing.

The tube bumper guard saved me on two seperate occasions...one deer & one F*%d driver in town that stopped & I wasn't paying attention, hitting their back bumper.
I loved it & would definetly do again!
