question regarding new clutch master cylinder - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

I am in the process of gathering parts to convert the front crossmember on my 61 Chevy over to a 78 chevy. It all seems to look fairly straightforward, but i'm getting hung up on one issue.

The stock setup on the 61 is a combined clutch/brake master cylinder. When I perform this conversion, I will be going to a dual brake resevoir MC. Has anyone found a replacement clutch master cylinder that will work? It also looks like the clutch MC would need to be relocated, as the new brake MC would be in the way.

For the record, I am running 1962 235 out of a 62 Impala, with the original truck 4 speed saginaw with hydraulic clutch. I know I will need to fab up motor mounts, not worried about that. The clutch has me a little bewildered.

I'm going to be swaping to a dual resivour master cylinder soon.
Like your 61, my 60 has the same set up. What I am going to use is a Willwood clutch master I bought from MP BRAKES. It came with a braket that mounts to the fire wall,a new push rod and instructions. Basicly you drill a 5/8 hole , get rid of the old clutch linkage and attach the new push rod to the cluch pedal.
I wont be able to do this for a bit , but will post pics.
Oh and yea that CPP set up is expensive. I paid about 85.00, but if you are handy you could make your own bracket. Hopes this helps

Hey Tucky,

I had to add a hydraulic clutch for my LS2 swap. Here is a link to the way I did it with an inexpensive Willwood unit like SlepySal. Hope it helps some.

The ony problem with the CPP unit is the clearance .I dont think it will clear with my 250 cliford intake. How much room between the booster and airfilter ?

I'll measure it for you tommrrow, How wide is your intake, it is a single carb intake? Or dual?

It sits quite a bit higher than the intake manifold. I'll measure and try and get some pic's so you can make an informed decission.

I've added some other pictures that might help until I get some measurements. Do you have a measurement as to how far out your manifold sits? Does it look anything like the OFFY dual intake on mine?
