Proportion Valve Required for upgrading to power brakes?
hey all, im about to add a power brake setup to a 70 chev c20 without power brakes. my question is, will the existing proportioning valve on my non power brake system work? or do i have to get a new proportion valve? also, is there a suitable solvent a guy can use to clean out the power brake unit? thanks in advance for any input.

The prop valve should be fine. They just make a difference between drum/drum and disk/drum trucks. I assume you're staying drum/drum, and just adding a booster. As far as cleaning the booster out, I'm not too sure. I'd be a little leery of some solvents when cleaning it though. You don't want something that'll eat the rubber parts inside it though.

drum/drum brakes do not have a proportioning valve// they have a simple distribution block only

WD 40 and air compressor will clean it good! no valve needed if you are drum drum.
