Karmann Ghia Front Bumper
I love the look of the Karmann Ghia front bumper on this truck http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...=437071&page=6
Does a Karmann Ghia front bumper have to be made wider to fit on a 1953 Chevy truck? Thanks. Wade

Re: Karmann Ghia Front Bumper
Not a common modification so break out the tape measure.

Re: Karmann Ghia Front Bumper
Looks like I would have to buy two Karmann Ghia front bumpers to make this work. Total cost around $1000 Canadian, so this mod is off my list.

Re: Karmann Ghia Front Bumper
Yes, I did spend an hour or so taking a look at junkyards, but no luck.

Re: Karmann Ghia Front Bumper
If you truly want to do this mod I'd just keep my eye on Craigslist and run searches on VW, Karmann Ghia, VW parts, etc. The bumpers WILL come up. Getting two of them will take longer but that's all part of the fun of the build unless you have an unlimited budget.
EXAMPLE: (Took 30 seconds on my local Craigslist) https://losangeles.craigslist.org/la...l<br /> <br /> https://orangecounty.craigslist.org/...833475905.html

Re: Karmann Ghia Front Bumper
Thanks. I suspect California has a vast untapped riches of VW parts. Not much in Florida right now. I will keep looking.

Re: Karmann Ghia Front Bumper
I'd have to agree with Dan = VW or German car junk yard.
It looks like the stock bumpers are three piece with the overriders covering the seams where the ends fasten to the centers. That might let you mix and match parts from some that have a bit of damage if you can find a set that you can use the parts of and save some coin over buying two nice bumpers to cut up. One more thing is that you will have to figure out what year group of bumper you need as they differ a bit over the years. https://www.alibaba.com/showroom/kar...a-bumpers.html

Re: Karmann Ghia Front Bumper
Thanks. Looks like 1960 to 1970 Euro bumpers would be the best. I am doing some searching, but most that I find are in good condition and they want lots for them.

Re: Karmann Ghia Front Bumper
Just to throw this out there. If your going to be cutting and welding together parts to make the bumper, maybe a 70-73 Camaro front bumper might be a second shot. Here's a link for a new one...Jim https://www.speedwaymotors.com/Golde...RoCkmEQAvD_BwE
