Resurrection not Restoration
After 20 long years, I Finally found a 67--72 2wd short box ...er, um, part of one.
It is originally a '68 short box step side Forest service truck. It came as a stripped down, plane Jane 6 cyl Origional options included: Heavy duty springs, special paint, vinyl interior, heavy duty rear axle, posi-traction, 4:10 gears (it still has the rear end) I snatched it off craigslist for $529 Promptly Ran to Montana to acquire the parts truck I have been hording for the last decade. We made quick work of reducing it to a pile of parts, I also had some extra parts stashed that got added to the pile. (My buddy, Paul and my Brother-in-law, Chris, made the trek with me and helped with the deconstruct.) I paid $200 for the 67 C 20 10 years ago, and sold the gauge cluster for $75 and passenger door for $75.[$50 parts truck!!!] It cost me $ 80 in diesel to fetch it. $ 50 +$ 80 +$529 ______ $659 That seems like a good starting point. I've been waiting for this truck for damn near 20 years More to come, promise. -Russ |

Re: Resurrection not Restoration
Although I haven't gotten anything else done to my truck, yesterday I picked up a new parts truck. 72 Chevy c10 short wide box. It's a pile of junk but, it was only $400. I think I'll get it running and mob it around for the summer.

Re: Resurrection not Restoration
You'll see what I mean. It was used to haul fish from the docks to the fish market. The whole inside of the bed is rusted out. Its pretty bad. I,m afraid to open the tailgate, for fear the bed sides might fall off!
All good though, I'll just cover it up with a toneau cover so you can't see that part. |

Re: Resurrection not Restoration
5:15 am O:clock in the morning time. Pulled an all nighter, the blue truck has been mucked out, and checked out. New coil points and condensor. New battery cables and a fresh battery, hooked it up to some fresh gas . It runs ...not very well, but it runs (needs Carb work).
Not nearly as much rust as I first thought, there's plenty, just not as much as I thought. Better sleep now, got to go to work soon. : -) |
