Best aftermarket suppliers

Looking for opinions as to who is the best aftermarket supplier for the 67-72 GM trucks. I've done business in the past with Brothers, but am curious if any of you have had dealings with any of the others (LMC, Classic Industries, etc.) and whether or not your experience and the quality of their respective products was satisfactory. Any and all recommendations would be helpful. Thanks in advance.

Re: Best aftermarket suppliers

Well the 'best' is a little subjective. I have allways had good dealings with Truck Shop in Orange, CA. Seeing that you're local (to me) you might want to try Super Muscle parts in Rancho Cordova, saves a lot on shipping.

Re: Best aftermarket suppliers

Most of the companies sell the same parts, so there really is no right answer to this question. For the most part I've had decent results from all of them, but I advise you not to buy the $350 CPP tilt steering column. Piece of crap.

I've had good luck with classic parts, truck shop and ece. On the other hand I've had very bad luck with cpp and won't even try lmc anymore

Re: Best aftermarket suppliers

Generally the worse the website and catalog the better the parts. If they don't respond to email and don't know how to use a computer, that's almost a guarantee of great parts.

LMC and similar seem to generally sell the same stuff, and it almost universally sucks for fit and finish. There are board vendors on here that sometimes offer better stuff, but you have to ask as there's no good "index" as to who sells what.

Anything approved by GM/OER is usually good. Mar-K makes the best trim and bed wood, IMHO.

Rock Auto is fine. You just have to watch the shipping. They drop ship everything. If you order multiple parts, they could come from multiple locations and shipping charges can get a little out of hand.
I tried to order some brake parts, but couldn't even get two matching drums to ship from the same location.

I've had very good luck with Mar-K and Classic Industries. You can't beat Mar-K for bed parts and trim. I tried 2 off-shore suppliers for a front bed panel from a local seller. The holes did not line up on either. So, I returned them and ordered from Mar-K. Everything was spot-on. Classic Industries regularly has 15%-20% off, and the quality of everything I bought there has been fine.

Rock Auto is fine for stock replacement parts. In fact, sometimes you'll find a part like the AC compressor is $500 at LMC and $150 at Rock Auto (I made up those numbers, but the point stands).

So if its a stock replacement part and they still offer it, it's usually a good way to go, especially if original appearance isn't completely critical.

Good point, Dave. I got all my Moog suspension parts (actually made in USA) ACC carpet and many parts for my newer vehicles there and have never been disappointed. They are almost always significantly less than elsewhere, and even though stuff is drop shipped, it ships fast. I, for one, don't think their shipping cost is excessive compared to other companies.
