Looking for a GREAT 67-72 cab shell

Looking for a really clean 67-72 cab shell that is close to, or in, AL, TN, GA...the cab corners, inner/outer rockers can have the usual problems...but no rust/dings/dents elsewhere if at all possible.

Structurally sound cab supports/floor.

Needs to be reasonably priced or I guess I'd just re-do my problem '68 that I paid too much for. Wish I had discovered this site and all you helpful folks before I bought on impulse. Live and learn.

I am in NW Alabama...where MS/TN/and NW AL all join together.

PM me with what ya got. Air cab not needed as I am doing Vintage Air.
A primered cab would also be considered if you have build photos showing it went to bare metal prior to epoxy primer.

I have new doors, fenders etc.

Tom

Re: Looking for a GREAT 67-72 cab shell

I have one, but i live in Council Bluffs, Iowa. is that to far to go to get one. the cab is solid, one spot with a little through rust on one of the rocker panels. Cab was from a county truck, so don't think it saw much road time. cab is automatic transmitssion i think. Not down to bare metal, still has the faded original paint.
let me know if it would be a possibility!!

Bryan,

Thanks for the reply...sounds perfect, but the location is a bit too far. Thanks, though. Tom

ECE sell cabs. I would surely think they would ship to you. Not sure if it would be worth it, but it doesn't hurt to ask.

MarcsRx...

I AM a subscribing member, and a site supporter too, so I really don't understand what the problem is with posting this general question asking for advice/leads.

Still looking for the "perfect" cab.

Re: Looking for a GREAT 67-72 cab shell

Have you checked out this one on the parts board? It's a pretty nice cab, needs some work in the cab corner areas, but a pretty nice cab. I'd buy it myself just to tinker with if I can come up with the extra cash

http://www.67-72chevytrucks.com/vboa...d.php?t=379431

I know where there are 2 complete 68 model trucks with very nice cabs, but you would have to buy the complete trucks and the owner keeps going back and forth about whether or not he wants to sell(sentimental value)

Also know of a (personal collection) of around 100 assorted trucks, mostly 67-72 models. He would probably have something. Here is a pic from about a year ago

the original post was editted by a mod- look at the bottom of it, it was longhair posting that for marcsRX, reminding HIM of the site rules.

Doh!!!!

Doesn't make sense... why would the Mod put that, since the OP is clearly a paid member?

None the less, I hope the OP can find a good cab.

I can see where the confusion came from.
What happened is when the OP ask for a cab which is allowed under the rules, a non-subscriber offered his for sale which is also allowed.
The confusion happened when another non-subscriber offered to buy the first non-subscribers cab which is not allowed under the rules. So marcsRX post was edited being he was the non-subscriber offering to buy the cab.
Clear as mud right.
Any other questions please feel free to PM me.

Re: Looking for a GREAT 67-72 cab shell

When I was in Bama last summer I stopped in a junk yard in Woodville (Woodville Auto Parts) and the guy had a 71 C-20. The cab was in pretty good shape (i can't remember how bad the rockers and cab corners were but I wouldn't have kept the guys card if it was a pile of junk), the front fenders and hood were really clean and the guy said he'd sell it all to me for $500. The truck was red. If I was you I'd give them a call and see if they still have it and go take a look. It's only about 35 minutes from you. The phone number is (256) 776-4345. I saved the info in case I couldn't find something up here, but I'm all set. Good luck man!

Re: Looking for a GREAT 67-72 cab shell

There is a guy who does my powder coating and he owns the powder coating shop here in Dallas, TX. I forgot what he wants for it, but you can call him. Not sure of the year either. I think it is a 68. He also has other parts to the truck if your interested. It looks to be a decent cab and it is already sandblasted too, inside and out. The shop is called Enduro Coatings and the number is (972) 288-3570. His name is Greg or ask anyone about the cab.

Re: Looking for a GREAT 67-72 cab shell

I've got a 67 small window cab with new rockers, cab corners, supports and everything already done including shaved gas hole. Complete with doors, glass, and most dash parts. $500.00 or $900.00 for the whole truck. If you are interested let me know and I'll get more pics. I'm at the bottom of Illinois by paducah, KY.

Re: Looking for a GREAT 67-72 cab shell

Thanks for all who have responded...I appreciate it. Found a 67 small window/non-air that only needs one rocker (so he says). Will look at it Sunday. He wants $400 for it (includes "good" doors and all glass).

Are small window cabs a premium thing? Personally I don't care one way or the other.

The guy is only 1 hour from me. We'll see. Tom

Still looking. They all were dipped in the same rust pail and need everything below the bottom of the door. I have a lead on another good one (can you hear me laughing?) that is up in TN...so tomorrow am I am going on a little road trip.

Wish me luck.
