anyone tried new GMC grille?

has anyone tried a new Gmc grille from Brothers or LMC? how is the fit and is it worth the money? I would sure hate to spend $850 dollars for all the pieces and not have it fit.

Re: anyone tried new GMC grille?

I bought one from classic truck parts this past summer. Fit was decent. I think issues was caused by my repop fender on the passenger side more than anything. They do arrive with black paint that has been stenciled on. I opened the package when it arrived and called to complain. The paint had been rubbed off by the box. They gave me a credit and I removed the rest of the paint with thinner. Looked better in my opinion anyway.

I also have a grill I bought before this one that is used if anyone is interested. No pics right now though.

Re: anyone tried new GMC grille?

I bought my GMC grill for my 72 last year from Classic Parts of America, used to be Chevy Duty. It fit pretty good. I was happy with it for $399, I think. Chrome is holding up and I am happy.

I have a GMC bumper on my GMC. It's rounded on the top inside for the turn signal lights.

Nope, I have one on mine. Didn't know any better at the time that I ordered it (I refer to this era of my life as my pre-67-72chevytrucks.com days), and I don't think it makes that much of a difference anyway.

On a side note, has anybody seen a painted repop GMC grill? I don't think they make them, but not sure.

Wheew...
You know, I ordered a GMC bumper from Brothers (the one with the lights in it) about 2 months later I unwrapped it and started to install it. I had other mounting issues and didn't even notice it until I posted pics here and someone said something. Then I thought about it.... ya know.. he's right...

I thought, Oh well. It's on there and that must be the only one they have with the lights in it. Since then it has bugged me but it looks fine. I'm waiting to get it out on the road (hopefully next summer) and see if anyone else ever notices.

Re: anyone tried new GMC grille?

Are Brother`s and LMC grilles made by someone different?I assumed everyone was selling the same grille.

`67s used the Chevy bumper.68-72s had a dip for parking lights. They didn`t reproduce the GMC ones for years after the Chevys came out.

So, you ordered a GMC bumper and they sent you a Chevy bumper by mistake? Do you have double parking lights now?

Nope, just no dip for the parking lights. Being it is a 4wd 1ton 4 wheel disk longhorn I doubt anyone will notice that the bumper doesn't have a dip for the lights. If they know that much about these trucks they will spend half a day trying to figure out what belongs and what doesn't on my truck. It all looks like its supposed to be there but nothing belongs.... LOL if you really want to get down to the nitty gritty I'm hoping to make some meetings with other board members next summer for its debut. I wonder how long it will take someone to notice it has screws under the wing windows but 67-71 window regulators with flat oem metal door panels.

Re: anyone tried new GMC grille?

Dang, I must have a chevy bumper on mine because ours doesn't have the dip in them either. Oh well, I guess I'll take a look at it and try to determine whether or not it's worth swapping out for a new one.
