will this tranny fit
will a sm-420 out of a 1949 chevy fit a 61 gmc with the 305? i dont know what motor it came off of.

I don't think so...but I've been wrong before. I know those earlier engines have a different bell housing bolt pattern. I'm not sure if you can use that trans on a later bell housing... I'm sure someone with more knowledge on this will chime in...
