Ok, I want to change out my lap belts to some newer style 3 point retractable ones, any body have any good ideas? I was looking at some nice Corbeu ones, just checking to see what the rest of you might have done.

LMC sells the 3point now, another source I know of is Julianos

I'm using seats out of a newer chevy truck that has the belts integrated with the seats. That might be an option if you want seats too.

Alright thanks guys. Ill check into the LMC idea. I would love to put newer truck seats in it but thats not in the budget for now. Thanks for the ideas

www.gemstreetrods.com This guy has the best prices on aftermarket belts, and they are the same ones LMC, Brothers, etc all sell.

Please, don't even think about used!

Realistically, seat belts are only good for 1 hard crash.
They may look just fine, but they do stretch and weaken when subjected to those kind of forces.

I'd hate to see anybody get hurt, or worse, because of a belt failure.

I'm climbing off my soap box now.

I don't think used is a good idea either, thanks for the advice. I am looking for something maybe a little more interesting than stock, but my budget wont allow for much. Even the stock ones are $80

Thats not what I meant. If the stock ones are $80, then I might as well spend 20 more and get some cool ones from Corbeau or Simpson

I found a '94 Olds 98 that gave up its 3-point belts and one lap belt. The thing I liked here was that you get the receivers with the GM mark of excellence badge.

Regarding the one-time use--I haven't found anything in SAE specs or NTSB journals that recommends replacing belts after impact. There are several references to child seats that essentially say "If everything works properly, the seat is safe to reuse." Honestly, I think GM would do more to ensure that their webbing suppliers meet SAE designs than Juliano's would.

As easy as the replacement would be, I would think that every body shop in the world would have been clamoring to charge customers $500 for new belts after any collision. Anybody out there know the insurance companies' opinion on replacing belts?

I have been scopin' these from Corbeau, they look interesting. They are like a race harness and a stock belt combined. Im not sure how they work or if they fit our trucks. I need to call and ask. I wonder if they would be comfortable for a DD...

Those look pretty cool. Looks like the two triangles at the side would connect to the floor and you wear it as a lap belt, and the two vertical straps would go over your torso and then the strap at the top would go to the left of your head like a normal belt. Got a link to them?

I don't remember where I got that tidbit of info about the 1 time use because it was probably before you were born.

And, quite frankly, I would love for somebody to prove me wrong.

But, until then, I'll not take the chances.

I'm NOT trying to get into a pissing contest with you, or anybody else; I just don't want to see anybody killed, or worse, because of a belt failure.

although i see merit with the thought of not using used belts, i pulled set out of a 82 chevy that i know was never in a wreck (my brother owned it). the bolt hole for the shoulder part was already in my cab, so i just got the correct, fine threaded bolt for it, and bolted it in.

for the bottoms, i cut some 3" x 4" 5/32" steel squares and drilled holes through the cab and put those on the bottom side of the cab, using grade 8 bolts.

IMO, these are better than stock.

the one downside is that there's very little room between the bench seat and the door, so check your placement before you drill for the retractor part.
