power steering/power brake conversion

Hey guys. I`m looking at a 68 that has manual steering. The last 68 I had I converted with parts from a 71 but does it have to come from a 67-72 truck? Will 73-up boxes bolt up to the older frame? Also, will the booser set up from a 73 up bolt on with no issues? I tried the search but it kept freezing on me. Thanks.

Crossmemeber and all will swap up to 86.The spindles will swap with the right ball joints. The steering box will work but you need the pitman and idler arm to match. These are the things I remember off the top of my haid. You may need to "Dimple" the frame rail for powersteering.

Re: power steering/power brake conversion

I know the crossmembers change out but I don`t have the time or the money for it at this point but definatly in the future. I just want to make driving a little easier if I get this truck. i haven`t heard back from the guy so I hope it isn`t sold yet.

Re: power steering/power brake conversion

I am in the same boat. BUT, I have heard that power steering gears from the middle sixties to 76 will fit for sure. I have found a gear out of an eighty half ton that will work also. I am going to use it Because i checked on an extra frame that i have and it will bolt up. The brake booster is a good ? I am still trying to find out what can work. Good Luck
