1972 chevy dual horns
Hello gents:
First time poster but long time forum stalker. I appriciate all the info you guys provide I had a question in reference to the dual horn set up on my 72 GMC. I bench tested both horns via ground and 12 volts to the spade terminals. No luck on getting them to work. If there any way to rebuild the horns? Or are these non-rebuildible? I do have power to the green lead wire and made sure both horns were grounded properly. I tried the wd-40 trick also. Thanks for your help in this. Posted via Mobile Device |

Did you try tapping on them with a small wooden hammer handle when you had the wires connected? They have points in them and the points get corroded and don't make contact. I don't think this is the only thing that can go wrong with them because they have coils in them too. If it is the points they can be fixed by filing them but they are a bear to disassemble. Think of it this way, you can't hurt them any...  Oh, and welcome to the board. LockDoc

GM horns the ground is the body of the horn not a spade terminal

Did you clean the horn body good for the ground? If not that maybe all it is that the paint wasn't letting it pass the juice.

Well, thanks for everyone's help. I ended up opening one horn up and saw most of the electrical parts inside burned and corroded. I'll be looking on flea bay and the parts board for a replacement. Thanks for everyone help!!
