LMC? Good or Bad?
I was just wondering what everyone's thoughts are on LMC Truck parts..
I've been going thru a few of the builds on here and haven't seen anyone mention using any parts from there. I've looked up a lot ot the places that you guys seem to use and the prices for the most part seem higher than LMC.. are they not good or is there another reason? Just would like to know before I start ordering parts from anywhere.(like repop panels) Thanx for your opinions.

Re: LMC? Good or Bad?
It really depends on your experience. Most of the parts houses have people that like them and people that dont. LMC is no different. Most of the web sites all get their parts from the same suppliers.
Most body panels are all made in china, Taiwan, or other Asian country. They are thinner than stock and ALL panels will have to be trimmed or have holes opened up, or otherwise massaged to fit properly, no matter who you buy from. Now there are a few exceptions here and there on specific parts but in general they are all the same. For me, I prefer to do business with places like truck and car shop, summit racing, rock auto, and others, not so much because of price (although that is a factor) but because they treat me right, I get my parts on time, the parts arrive in better condition, and overall customer service. LMC is as good/bad as any. |

Re: LMC? Good or Bad?
One thing I would advise against purchasing from LMC is any kind of rubber products-IE window rubber, door seals, etc. I have tried a couple diferent time to use theirs on different projects with the same result-ended up throwing them away and buying somewhere else.
One positive note- they do seem to have about as large a selection of parts as anyone, and some parts most don't stock. With the abundance of overseas parts flooding the market, it's a crapshoot no matter where you go. For sheet metal, I prefer Top Banana Parts- thickness is good and so far, fit has been very acceptable and workable(note I did not say GREAT, LOL) Since I am about in the middle of the two, I like to use Classic Parts out of OKC over LMC-mainly as previously stated- because I am treated good and been very happy. Also good results from Classic Chevy(formerly Chevy Duty) out of KC. |

Re: LMC? Good or Bad?
When my truck was repainted, I ordered a pile of parts, grill, bumpers, braces, windshield/back glass gaskets, carpet and a bunch of smalls. All came in quick and correct. Just like anywhere, sometimes will be great, others crappy. Just the way it is. They're atleast as equal as our local Napa lol!

Re: LMC? Good or Bad?
I've had good and bad experiences with them. Some things like their clear crystal dome lights are only available through them. It was a beautiful piece and worked perfectly. I also ordered some pedal trim from LMC. It was horrible. Poorly designed, badly trimmed with rough edges, didn't fit, and stuck out like a sore thumb. I tossed them out and bought the same items from Chevy Duty. Those were beautiful, well designed and manufactured, and fit like OEM.
Unfortunately there really isn't any way to know what you're going to receive unless you can look at the item first, no matter where you purchase. But Chevy Duty/Classic Parts has a widely held great reputation. LMC not so much.

Re: LMC? Good or Bad?
I too have had good and bad with LMC, mostly the parts though.
I have only bought from LMC when I cant find it anywhere else, I have shopped at Classicparts for 25 years ( formerly Chevy Duty), some from Brothers ( slow shipping!) and a couple of board vendors which I have had great products and service from. I suggest you look on the vendor page and speak to one of them ( A1Tony comes to mind) they will give you a great deal and they will take care of you, they support this board just like us so they really have a vested interest in the success of it. Good luck and have fun!

Re: LMC? Good or Bad?
Chevy Duty/Classic Parts Very reasonable prices fast shipping, good quality.
LMC takes forever to get anything from them and prices are higher |

Re: LMC? Good or Bad?
I got my last carpet from LMC & it is junk. It is all wrinked up around the heel pad. Some of there stuff is only fit for drivers. Like flex radiator hoses. I am close to them & Classic parts. I use classic parts most of the time but as said, A guy needs more then one supplier.

Re: LMC? Good or Bad?
Just like anything, it pays to be a smart shopper. Some items are great, some not so great. This forum is a tremendous source to get a feel for which products to avoid. I end up splitting my purchases between LMC and Classic (formerly Chevy Duty).

Re: LMC? Good or Bad?
I used LMC quite a bit early on till I found they were not the only game in town with parts for these trucks. Brothers are nice dudes but every time the parts were backordered a month out without any communication what the status was. I agree with Tinncan don't get any rubber parts from LMC if you get door seals from them your doors won't close, all their rubber parts come from across the big pond to the west. A better choice is www.steelerubberproducts.com [US made]
It pays to shop around good luck..Vernski |

Re: LMC? Good or Bad?
I like thier catalog for reference purposes and I have bought some of their sheet metal but subsequently returned it. Besides not fitting AT ALL, it is a thinner gauge Chineese steel than OEM. For sheet metal parts, I go with Tabco all the way. Almost perfect fit, made in the USA and is the same gauge as OEM.

Re: LMC? Good or Bad?
Like most have stated here already, Some stuff is Chinese crap.
Some stuff is OK. I noticed that they do not have customer reviews for their parts??????
