New Steelies, New Look
I had purchased a set of 15 x 8 steelies from CrewCab59 and had them powdercoated signal white. I had my tires put on the steelies and mounted up.
I'm not 100% that I like them yet. I think I need to put on a set of hubcaps and/or a set of trim rings. I really wanted to put on a set of bullet cones with bullet lugnuts. We shall see! Tell me what you think? Keith |

Re: New Steelies, New Look
Before and After!
I have had the "saw blade" chrome rims since 1997 when I purchased the truck. I have been wanting to make a change for quite a while. Keith |

Re: New Steelies, New Look
I like the truck with either of them tell you the truth.
If it was mine I would drop the back down and get it level. Nice colors! |

Re: New Steelies, New Look
That is exactly what I was thinking. Bring the back down with a set of hub caps and trim rings. That in my opinion would look great.

Re: New Steelies, New Look
I think the white steelies look great. I'd paint the bumper white if you have the wheels white. Chrome bumpers look better with chrome wheels IMHO.

Re: New Steelies, New Look
The chrome sawblades are dated. The white steelys are, well, timeless. Go well with the blue n white color. I'd go for the chrome pointed lugs and center cone for a bit different look without spending a lot. 'bout 2 inches down in the rear too.

Re: New Steelies, New Look
I love the look of bare wide steelies just fine. Chrome acorn lugs would clean it up. Your choices in Chevy car dog dish caps is about endless. I also like the rake on your truck. I really like exactly how your truck looks in the pictures. I never liked saw blades of any sort.

Re: New Steelies, New Look
Looks great with the steelies. Good choice.
I like rake in a truck, but I think yours is a little too much. I'd split the difference between level and what you've got now. And I'd tuck up the exhaust a little more, too. JMO, of course.

Re: New Steelies, New Look
Love the steelies. If you're looking for cap suggestions - here's what i have on my 66: 59 imp poverty caps. But, they might be a better fit for a pre-67, not sure.
Grande Rojo, love your truck - have not seen that before - new wheels/tires/caps look great. |

Re: New Steelies, New Look
Here are five more to ponder. I've used all of them at one point or another and they all look great in 8-10" wheels. I've used the 59/60s and what so many call the COPOS,when COPOS could be different depending on what year the car was.

Re: New Steelies, New Look
I agree with more drop in the rear would try to find some of the chrome factory "68 style hub caps. I think they will look great and complement the chrome bumper and grill trim very nicely.

Re: New Steelies, New Look
Just my 2 cents.. I would do chrome lug nuts and raised white letter tires, with a name brand manufacturer IE Goodyear BFG or something like that. I think that gives a clean uncluttered look

Re: New Steelies, New Look
Thank you everyone for your input. I do appreciate it.
I'm not opposed to bringing the rear down an inch or 2. I just prefer the rake. I think it it gives it an aggresive stance like the vehicle is ready to eat up the road. I've allways admired the street rods with big fat tires in the back with an aggresive rake. I have even been entertaining the idea of putting the front back to stock height. I still have the springs. My idea with the white steelies is to have several different dog-dish center caps to change the look up when I want to. I also would really love the bullet cones with bullet lug nuts. I also would love to have some chrome 1968 center caps. However I am afraid to put them on and leave them on for fear that someone might take them. I don't have a secured parking space. Oh and yes, forgot to mention I am going to put on the side trim for the 1967/68 chevrolets. I just need to save up some more money and let the old wallet cool down a little bit. I am in a little over $700 for the steelies and powdercoat. Keith |
