Need some help
Hello, I am new to this thread and new to Chevy trucks in general, always loved them i just always bought old dodges. Anyways, i recently bought a 1988 Chevrolet 1 ton 4x4 crew cab 6.2L diesel and in really good shape.
She is really straight except for a little patch of rust on the passenger rear wheel well. I am going to pull off the camper and the running boards so if you live in alaska and want em i will have them at a price you wont be able to refuse. Anyways, I am going for a certain look, and i need some of your opinions so i can get it there. i have been scouring this site for the last few days(I am deployed in Afghanistan and we are winding operations down here so there is not alot to do right now)and have found a pic of some one elses truck and really want to match the lift height and tire size. here is the pic I love how this is still stock looking but sits a little higher. Is this the 2.5 inch lift with stock tire sizes or something else all together. your opinions would be greatly appreciated. I will keep ya'll updated on the progress of my new project here is my list of things that i wasnt to happen to this bad boy: -Slight suspension lift (probably 2.5 inch) -Get some new stock steel wheels and hub caps -New rear bumper -Get rid of bench seeat up front and replace with bucket seats and center console. -Banks turbo charger -Possibly new paint, once i get home and see it in person. I am open to any suggestions and will gladly take any advice on these trucks that i can. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ "The price of freedom is Eternal Vigilance" Last edited by JPalmer81; 03-26-2012 at 07:37 AM. |

Re: Need some help
Yours is a nice truck, could use a little height but it needs to loose the running boards. You may want to check the crecab thread there are several awesome ones on there that you can get additional ideas for. There is a blue and white stock 86 on there that has CAT mud flaps that is my favorite.
Also welcome to the board!!!

Re: Need some help
Thanks for all the comments guys, cant wait to get home and get started on her. This site is invaluable when doing a project like this.
Another question is, does interior out of newer models like mid 90's fit in these relatively easy? If any of ya'll have done anything like that let me know, i am not an interior guy, i am an engine guy so things get a little grey for me inside. |

Re: Need some help
I could be wrong, but did some of the crew cabs come stock with some bucket seats and center console? It might of been just the burbs. A fold down console in the front would be nnice too, dont know if any models came with those. Thanks for the suggestion.

Re: Need some help
I'll take the topper/camper dealio
You can put Burb buckets and console in these crews fairly easy. You need the front inboard stands, drill the rear inboard holes, and fab or buy some backing nuts. You can use the newer body style (88-00) seats with a little fabbing This is member OJOE's truck Posted via Mobile Device

That is some pretty nice work on the interior, doesnt look too hard to get the seats in there, a little fabrication and wahlah. now i just have to find a wrecked burb with nice interior.

Re: Need some help
I have 4 white steelies
I don't want the running boards though. The wheels a buried at the moment, but here is a pic of them on my truck The rear seat in those pics is from a newer crew, I believe the fronts are the same between the burbs and crews of that era. I'd like to find 2, '95-2000, 60/40, grey cloth, bench seats with the folding armrest for my crew. Posted via Mobile Device

Yeah, i am thinkin if i put a lift on at all it will only be a 2.5 inch lift, still want to be able to haul a fifth wheel camper with it.
