Trans Dapt Engine Crossmember? 4x4

5.3L to an SM465 all inside a 1969 K20 with 4” lift.

Has anyone use a Trans Dapt Crossmember (part#969-4840 or 969-4841) for an LS swap in a 4x4 truck? There was a member on here that mentioned seeing a tuck with on of these crossmembers being used, but I haven’t seen anyone write more about them? Trans Dapt has two possible Products:

I know that Dirty Dingo and Pacific Fab make crossmembers, but the TransDapt ones are considerably less expensive.

Looks like it would need to be modified to work with an LS.

You might as well make your own at that point.

I don't see any advantage of using either one of those versus just using your original K series engine crossmember with a set of LS adapter plates. You would need the adapter plates with either of those TD crossmembers anyway.

From what I’ve read you can’t use the stock crossmember because the oil pan will hit. Just wondering if anyone had ever used them.

What about a different oil pan? Or simply sectioning the middle of the stock crossmember to accommodate the oil pan you plan to use.

Exactly. Your buying two items instead of just one, with these cross-members.

A low profile pan might work. Just wish I could fine a past of someone doing it, so I don’t waste money. I also saw a member rework the passenger side corner of the crossmember, where the engine hits. So I’m might do that. Thx for the responses.

I think it will work just fine. I have the same crossemember and test fitted it on my ls with adapter plates and it fit well. I have a 1966 that doesn't have a factory engine crossmember and like the idea of adding one to stiffen up the frame. It also allows you to locate the engine wherever it fits your application best. you might want to raise the engine or position it in the engine bay forward/ aft.
