fuel tank plumbing questions

i replaced the tank in my 71 with a 40 tank from a 87 sub. i removed the electric pump and extended the pickup tube. the sub tand has a vent with a ckeck valve that alows fuems to escape but no air tho enter the tank that went to the evaperative canister whitch my truck didn't have , what should i do with this? add canister? plug it and use vented cap? next ? tank is also plumbed for a return line my holly fuel pump is not should i plumb this to front of truck in case i want it later or plug it at tank? next ? where these tanks get their make up air? dotheir caps alow air to enter and fuems to not escape to keep them from collapsing or vapor locking?
