Rear axle springs

Wanting to find out what the standard amount of leaves would be in the rear axle springs on my 83 1 ton 4x4. There are nine leaves with two helpers right now. The truck was originally used to pull a goose neck.

Re: Rear axle springs

1tons tend to have 9 leaf + overload in the rear for the main pack . then 1 or more extra on top if it calls for helper leafs .

Re: Rear axle springs

1 tons had between 8/1 and 12/1 springs, not including any helper springs. typically 1-3 helper springs.

8/1 is 8 leafs with the 1 fat thick overload at the bottom, so on and so forth.

Re: Rear axle springs

My 89 C3500 cab and chassis has 8 plus an overload at the top and a fat one at the bottom.
