BBC 454 setups
So I'm in the middle of building a mild mark 4 454 for my 71 c10, powerglide, 3:73 gears. I am planning on keeping a stock bottom end, I have picked up remanufactured large oval port heads, not sure what springs are in it but they came off a 500 hp BBC. I was looking into the Edelbrock efi plug and play kit. Comes with efi, intake manifold, distributor, etc. Being as this is a street truck I want to know who has a similar setup and how they like it. I want a roller cam and roller rockers but want to know how it will perform and what brands I should pick before I drop money on it. The truck is driven hard, a choppy idle is always nice, but I'd rather actually go fast then just sound like I can go fast.

Re: BBC 454 setups
No input on the EFI, but I have two different 427's. An original L36 390hp from a 69 Corvette .030 over with the L2300 forged pistons that has the smallest Comp Cams hydraulic roller nitrous cam. 224/236 @ .050 113 LSA with 10:1 compression. I plan to install this with a TH200 4R and a set of 3.73 gears in my '69 short step.
The other is a cobbled together 427 with a '76 454 block, GM steel crank, and a set of mildly worked 781 heads that was in a boat. .060 over and L2300 forged pistons. It has a Comp marine hydraulic roller 230/236 @ .050 112 LSA with 8.75:1 compression. This ran 10 mph faster than a 330 hp 7.4l Mercruiser in a 26' boat so realistically 450ish hp. It's going in my Corvette with a McLeod street 5 speed behind it and 3.70 gears. Both of these cams were chose with the intent of having good street manners. When I bought the nitrous cam the marine cam was my other choice. I stumbled into the second motor which already had the marine cam in it, so I at some point can compare directly. Both cams should be FI friendly. I have run the former boat motor on my test stand. It sounds wicked and idles quite well at 700 rpm without a transmission attached to it. Should be a hoot in the 3000# 'vette. Now if I can just get my teenagers '72 Jimmy project wrapped up...
