Re: Whats it worth??

In my humble opinion that depends on the rust...... Thats what gives you that sinking feeling in the pit of your gut later so look past the paint and the floor covering for the cancer and then make an offer.....

Cool truck though I love stepsides. Hope you get a great deal.

Re: Whats it worth??

$3500-4000 if it's not running at the very most. Barrett-Jackson and mecum auctions have everyone believing they are sitting on a high dollar classic.

I paid $3800 for a LWB 70 with a big block running and new tranny. Put about 6 k more fixing it up.

Re: Whats it worth??

WAY over priced. A long box stepside that's been sitting for that long, maybe $2000 or so, but I wouldn't pay any more unless it were a highly optioned truck with big block etc.

Re: Whats it worth??

So that is a 68 model? Not that it has anything to do with the price just wondering? The thing that bothers me most is the rust that is coming from the seams in the bed in the pic where you can see the front of the bedside. This would lead me to think that rust has gotten not only to the bed floor underneath but the crossills as well and the cab mount would also be suspect. Jim

Re: Whats it worth??

That's what I was thinking too No more than 3 or 4 if the miles are legit and the amount of rust The Lady sounded so sweet talking about her dad and this truck A pic of the pedals to see if it looks like actual miles

Re: Whats it worth??

I am thinking the asking price is too much. Thats the problem. Selling dads baby. Hard to not think of it as not worth as much with the time and love he put into it. But I agree, if the rust is coming from the inside out, then the paint could be hiding a lot more. But then again, it could have an all aluminum big block under the hood. If it runs and drives, that is a good positive. Still, try talking to the family and let them know that you consider this a member of your family and that you will put as much love and time in it as their dad did. Never know, they might be looking for a good adoptive family to place dads truck in more than the money they get from it.

Re: Whats it worth??

If it runs and the rust isn't bad here in the northeast I'd go 6 or 7 grand, they're tough to find around here. Had some upgrades too, 5 lug wheels...

Re: Whats it worth??

I think those are just hubcaps, probably still six lug. I'd say from the looks of the steering wheel and pedals it's 145,000. That's a $4,000 truck in my book tops. It doesn't have any options that make a truck worth more. Wait them out they won't get the crazy money they're wanting. Sentiment has no value. Good luck.

Re: Whats it worth??

Sorry I asked if it was a 68. I didn't see the first two pics the first time I looked at the post, don't know how I missed them. Also wasn't paying attention to the pic with the hand hold park brake. don't know how I missed all that unless I was just hungry before supper. Jim

Re: Whats it worth??

3K would probably be a fair price- now if it was sitting out in a field in Nebraska....8100 may be a realistic price!

Re: Whats it worth??

most estate sales that of the two day nature look for full sticker price on first day and 50% off on last day. if you really think that it worth driving back for on the second day be there hours before they open to be first in line. and see if you luck out. don't be afraid not to be buy just because of the drive that you made. local guy did that recently at an estate sale on morning of second day and got a really nice Chevy II

Re: Whats it worth??

$8,100.00 like everyone above and you stated, is way too high with no history and NOT running. Rust for your area is a problem, bring coveralls and a good flashlight and some magnets or one of these:

Or you could quick flip it like this, sorry if it belongs to a board member, and look like an episode of Fast'N'Loud.

Hey : Jim you get a pass on the whole not knowing the year of the truck. I'm sure when you were young you thought you didn't need a mask when spraying all those trucks It may just be starting to so the effects of your actions now ! Ha Ha
