Fools Gold. my new 66 c10

Im pretty new here as far posting, but i have a my truck now!
Anyways its a 66 swb fleetside that i found in a barn where its been resting for 20 something years. very very little rust or rot, I love the patina so Im gonna roll with it awhile.

so yank the motor and trans out and junked it, it was a 305 and th200. clean and wire wheeled the engine compartment. painted ect..

ripped out all the old floor mat and did the same to the inside, simple greened the seat, POR15 the floor then some left over bedliner on top of that. going put some matting down then new carpert.

Re: Fools Gold. my new 66 c10

new motor and trans in, just a crate 350 with a mild cam and a TCI th350, its slowly making progress. ignore the spark plug wires, lol. they are just on it to start, i have to finish cutting and making the new ones.

Im horrible at taking pics, i just keep working away and forget to take them till its done. some exhaust i made for it and under it

Exhaust is tucked up in the frame on top of the crossmembers.

in the process of all the loose ends for the engine, getting the tank cleaned, gauge cluster cleaned up and running then on to the suspension

Re: Fools Gold. my new 66 c10

Thanks everyone, hoping this weekend to get some more done to it. Some where along the line some tried to put a tilt column in it and didnt do a very good job. I pulled the column out last weekend and shortened it a bit. Plan on getting it back in this weekend and sink it a little deeper in the dash to give me some more room. I have boxes and boxes of parts to keep me busy for awhile and try and take some pictures this weekend.

Hello and welcome to the site!!
You are certainly a motivated builder !!
Do you anticipate any resonance issues with the mufflers up under the cab like that?

I had it running for a bit this weekend. Its not to bad at idle, but we shall see. I have been in worse. The 1500-2500 drone is what kills me. If its to bad after sound deadening ill have to run it out the back, but that will be after the suspension is done so i know where to put it.

And thanks for the welcome

Re: Fools Gold. my new 66 c10

not much new to update, havent had a chance to work on it for a few weeks. Did get some new rollers and caps for it. wheels vintique smoothies and some 55 caps. the wheels have not shown up yet though.

would also like some ideas of what color to paint the wheels since they are bare.

Re: Fools Gold. my new 66 c10

Finally got to work on the truck this weekend for a bit. Got the rear brake done, now need to move to the front and knock those out. I have my wheels loaded up to take to work and swap the tire to my new wheels as soon as get them painted. I think Im going to go with black for the time being.
