Is my Dream Truck Possible?

I want to build a 64-66 Chevy C10 with a chassis swap so i can have 4x4 with power brakes, i would like power steering, id like to lift it 4 inches, and the most fun is a Cummins 4bt engine swap. What would be the best chassis to swap with and are all those changes possible on a budget?

Mine on a Blazer frame. Short or long box should be the same.

More or less. Chassis swaps usually are a waste, as it ends up being easier to retrofit things to the existing frame. There aren't many other frames that fit well without retarded amounts of fab, most of which can be put to better use.

You still need to define budget.

buy a 91 4wd suburban, keep your stock frame. use engine, transfer case, trans, rear axle, wiring harness, fuse block, powersteering, front and rear axle. You could probably find one for $2000.00 in good running order. Would be easier to put driveline in on a stock frame rather than try to move to the 91 frame. JMO Kieth

Re: Is my Dream Truck Possible?

Look up Matt Hughes Chevy Truck. Two Brothers Truck from Illinois built it on 2005 Chevy frame.

Re: Is my Dream Truck Possible?

Go buy one that's a factory 4x4 though the diesel might be a bit much for it. Any reason you want a diesel instead of an LS swap?

Re: Is my Dream Truck Possible?

Anything is possible with the right money and or skills. There is a guy on youtube with a GMC 4x4 with 4BT in it.

Re: Is my Dream Truck Possible?

Most anything is possible with enough money, time and skills.

But does it make sense to do it? Probably not.

On that Matt Hughes truck, they removed the entire stock front suspension and axle and built a custom 4 link with a Dana 60. So what was the point of all the work to mount the '66 body onto a 2006 frame? That custom front suspension could have very easily been installed under the original '66 frame as well as installing the engine and trans. Then the frame and cab would have the same VIN number and no possible legal issues later on.

I guess I just don't understand why so many guys want to switch to newer frames on these trucks.
