1972 Highlander Question
I have read the highlander posts in the past and have a question about mine.
It is a 1972 Custom 10 deluxe longbed with woodgrain on the bottom, non tilt wheel, no air. It is the light metallic green tu tone with white. The interior has the white door panels and white seat belts. The dash pad, steering wheel and column are black and had black carpeting. My dad purchased the truck in 74 with 12,000 miles on it. It had the highlander seat in it. The glove box door does not say anything about the highlander package. It seams to go against what the brochure says and what has been discussed. I am also doing a complete frame off restoration. Any information would be appreciated. |

Re: 1972 Highlander Question
There was 3 different packages for highlanders sounds like you got the basic one.I think special-k's blue highlander had woodgrain moulding.mine and all the ones that I've had,had the black moulding insert. The glovebox might say something like special promo package, on the restoration you won't be able to get an exact reproduction of the seat cover but you can get close, but get ready$$$$ it will cost about double of what a normally available seat cover would cost....Mike

Re: 1972 Highlander Question
Thanks
I have seen where you can get the material from a place in washington. I am going for a rodstoration so I am not concerned about exactness. I am planning a fuel injected motor either the ramjet 350 or the new ls3 with hot cam. The rest of the truck will look exactly stock. I am close to getting it painted. My dad purchased this truck a month before I was born and I crashed it when I was four! I don't figure very many members can claim that. Do you have any pics of the repro seat material in a truck? |

Re: 1972 Highlander Question
I don't have any pictures of the material,I'm 99% sure the material is correct but I don't think you can get the vinyl part of the seat embossed with the scroll pattern.

Re: 1972 Highlander Question
Thanks for the pics. Those appear to be the same color. The original seat was recovered sometime in the late 70s. The material didn't last. It would be nice to have the scrolls but I am more concerned on getting the inserts.
Does anyone have production numbers on the highlanders. Didn't know how rare they are. |
