Re: Ece 5.5 dropped leaf springs

edit: I did funny math based on your post title. You wanted 5.5" drop not seven, but...

5.5" springs plus 1.5" shackle equals 7". I flipped my rear axle using a DJM kit and got 7" for only $130. I used front shocks and moved them to the more upright position using the hardware supplied and the second hole in the factory upper shock mount. I removed the rubber bumpstops and cut the "pads" on top of the axle housing off. I used DJM low profile urethane bumpstops on the frame that came with the flip kit.

Front is 2 1/2" disc conversion drop spindle from ECE and their 2" small block spring.

Re: Ece 5.5 dropped leaf springs

Here is my 69 GMC after installing the 2.5 drop spindles and 4 in. drop leafs from ECE . I am considering adding the 1.5 shackles .I also went with their disc brake kit and sway bar ,It rides great and handles like a dream now.

Nice, any pics of the build I could look at. I am also wanting to sit her down a bit without breaking the bank.

I didn't do a build thread. I have about $2500 in the disc conversion, 5 lug rear, flip, springs, wheels and tires.

Re: Ece 5.5 dropped leaf springs

That looks great so I know now I would be happy with the 1.5 shackles added to that. Your front is 2.5 drop?

Re: Ece 5.5 dropped leaf springs

Yes 2.5 drop spindles in front from ECE . I know my front springs have to be worn out so I am up in the air on lower or stock springs ,I'm thinking lower

Re: Ece 5.5 dropped leaf springs

Countless hours after work . 180 + holes ( from the trim and other things not rust ) welded up on the body. Some screaming , not too much kicking , 1 tooth and a few dollars .Time well spent , It's all good and fun
