New Bowtie Chevy Emblem for a '73 Grille

Anybody have an idea where I can find a new correctly sized replacement Chevy bowtie emblem that fits correctly on my '73's grille? i finally peeled off the original thin metal one. It looks like it was stuck on there with some adhesive.

I cut one out of some adhesive back gold foil once but it didn't last too long before it looked bad and fell off. Only other ideas I had were a piece of acrylic or aluminum painted to look right.

I know it's goofy - i just feel bad always asking questions and never having anything to contribute. Someday . By the way they range in price from $32.95 to $59.95 at LMC.

Re: New Bowtie Chevy Emblem for a '73 Grille

Here is the link to LMC http://www.lmctruck.com/features/cc/CC.htm

I searched through there briefly and found complete replacement grills both oem and custom. Did not find the emblem but am sure it is on there.

Re: New Bowtie Chevy Emblem for a '73 Grille

page 36 shows an emblem for the 73-78 grills. but I don't think it fits the 73-74
http://www.lmctruck.com/icatalog/cc/full.aspx?Page=36

bet it is like this one

http://www.classicparts.com/1975-79-...ctinfo/59-338/

wonder if you could make it work?

Re: New Bowtie Chevy Emblem for a '73 Grille

Thanks! I have seen a nice looking chrome bowtie at LMC but they do not show the measurements and they do not represent that it fits with the '73.

Find yourself a nice piece of aluminum, about as thick as 2 credit cards. Shape it to fit and then have it engine turned for a custom look.

Re: New Bowtie Chevy Emblem for a '73 Grille

That is a great idea. I just found a website that engine turns metal and they have colors available too. There is a yellow they offer that looks really cool and real close to the Chevy original I think. I sent them an e-mail to see if I can get a quote.

Re: New Bowtie Chevy Emblem for a '73 Grille

Here's an example of what engine turning looks like. It is a subtle custom touch that was used by a lot of the old school hot rodders.

No problem. I think it would look sweet on a bowtie.
