Lokar shifter

Anyone know abit about these, mines a ATS6350BM I fitted it today & it won't go into 1st gear. When I removed it & looked underneath it looks as though it's only designed to go PRND1 not PRND21 as shown on top of the knob. Is it a 2 speed that's been fitted with a 3 speed knob?

Re: Lokar shifter

That number matches Lokars for 350 TH, so it is something in the geometry or adjustment. On GM stock and most aftermarket ones the length of the arm (cl trans or shifter shaft to CL lever pivot arm) at the trans and shifter have to be the same to get the detents to work correctly. Also need to make sure the arm on the trans is mounted correctly, I made that mistake on mine so pattern was reversed first time around.

Re: Lokar shifter

I don't remember the number of the shifter we used(been like 4 years), but on a '62 C-10 in which we installed a 350SBC/TH350, we had to get an additional linkage kit besides what came with the shifter to get it to work right.
I just looked it up on the web site. I can't find a part number, but it's called a bellcrank kit and the instructions, with a picture of the kit installed are in the download section of the site.

http://lokar.com/instruction-sheets.html It's the first link in the "shifters" section of this index.

Re: Lokar shifter

Am I right in thinking that you don't need to push the button in at the top to move from D to 2 but you do to move from 2 to 1? Also there is very little movement from D to 2. Thanks

I would say that is correct. Mine works the same way. If you don't have passing gear hook up on the trans, you can drop into 2 when you hit the gas hard, then shift back into drive after....Jim
