Re: 67/72 c10 half 2wd

Here is a thread with a lot of disc brake conversion info.

http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...68&postcount=4

I have a 69 I will be converting over to disc brake. I am keeping mine 6 lug, but everything is going to be new on the front end. Purchasing my stuff from CCP. The only used equipment I will have will be the power brake booster, master cylinder, proportioning valve, and brake pedal assembly.

If I didn't like the wheels I have so much, I would just do the 5 lug conversion from a 71 or 72. Much cheaper when you find a donor to get all the parts from. Good luck.

"S" is the suffix code for a 1962 327 mated to a powerglide for a full size car.

Re: 67/72 c10 half 2wd

I suggest going to a salvage yard and finding a truck with the steering gear box still on it (that is if you don't want to buy new). Since you are wanting to change over to disc brakes, you might find a donor also. Far as I know, you can order a new steering gear box (power steering ready) from your local parts store and bolt it on. Mine was upgraded to power steering and still has the factory steering column. So that should bolt right up too. Don't take my word on it, search the forum. As for the brackets, find them on here or got to the salvage yard and find those too. Be surprised what you find at them.
Found a complete 71 chevy at one that someone drove in. Unmolested at that, very little rust. Wish I would have had the $1000 they was asking... Was a broke high schooler then.

Look in the 67-72 classifieds on this forum for the power steering stuff. The other thing is I don't know if the bosses on the drivers side front of the block are drilled and tapped on something that old but maybe. The reason that matters is that that is where part of the pump bracket bolts up to. So you will need that pump, brackets, steering gear, and crank pulley.

Re: 67/72 c10 half 2wd

Here is a link for the steering parts. $50 for the pump and brackets and $50 for the steering gear.

http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=544916

You could just buy a 71 or 72 parts truck to get all of the 5 lug stuff plus your power steering stuff if it is equipped if that is what you are asking from your post above.

Re: 67/72 c10 half 2wd

The power steering pump brackets do not mount to the head. Mounts to the block. Depending on the brackets, there is a support bracket that mounts from the back of the pump to the motor mount. I will try to locate a few pictures for you.

Re: 67/72 c10 half 2wd

This thread might help you out. Show's a factory one and a after market one. If you are have problems finding one that works, I suggest just buying the Alan Grove one or the summit racing one he has the link to. The factory one he is showing has the ear missing for the top bolt. The Alan Grove and Summit Racing one both run pretty much the same price.

Re: 67/72 c10 half 2wd

Can you show us a picture of the front of your motor... Pics help a lot. You will most likely have to go with a low mount alternator bracket.

Re: 67/72 c10 half 2wd

You can relocate the alternator to the passenger side of the motor with a low mount alternator kit. So, you can have the alternator on one side and the power steering on the other side.

Will that matter in the way the alternator spins for charging

Spins same way no matter what side it is on. Crank turns clockwise and so does everything else.
