Air bags

Good Morning

I would like to put airbags on my truck. All the kits seem to be 2000.00. There has to be a cheaper way. I know everybody doesnt pay that for air bags. I do how ever what to use drop spindles in the front. I would also like to build a custom air tank to go behind my seat where the gas tank was.

Any help would be great!

Re: Air bags

You can get kits for less than $2000. Check out AVS, one of the vendors here. I priced one decent kit out and it was around $1400 depending on the options you want. Making a custom air tank will of course add to the price. If you know lots about air fitting and setting up air systems then you can piece a system together yourself and save a lot of money. Most of us arnt mechanics or air suspension specialists and we need to buy complete kits and that costs twice as much. If you want to set something up that super simple, then get a set of bags and run shrader valves and then use the air compressor at your shop or at a gas station to adjust and set the height. Just like with the old air shocks. As long as there are no leaks, you can set it and forget it. Drop it down for a show or whatever. In my 78 c10 with air shocks I just have a $30 compressor under the seat and i pull it out, plug it into the cig lighter and fill up the shocks. The shrader bag setup is a good way to get your truck on air bags on a budget. they you can always add the tanks, compressors and valves later when you have more money.
