Had to get back in a truck

After trading my 72 short bed for the 60 Biscayne and owning it for several months I decided to look for another short bed. Found this 71 and it's very nice.
Mild 355cu and TH400. Pretty fresh paint and interior is new also. I like the bubble top but this truck is pretty badass.
Out with the old

Re: Had to get back in a truck

RustedMetal, how do find people that want to trade? Seems the population within 300 miles of me wants TALL dollars only for their trucks. I've had a finished 1956 Chevy 1/2(garaged with a car cover) that I've tried to trade for another 67-72 all Summer and no bites. Your lucky.

Re: Had to get back in a truck

Well the guy was looking for a cool, 50's 60's style rat rod so it just worked out. It was a good trade for both of us. I'm loving the new truck though.

I can't blame you. That truck is nice.
Being in Tennessee you will no doubt be putting air cond on it.

Re: Had to get back in a truck

The car was a get it out for 30 minutes or go to cruise in kinda car. These trucks are just so easy and fun to just hop in and go. The Biscayne was hell to drive. With a/c and power steering it would have been better. But no p/s, no power brakes, Saginaw 3 speed in the floor. It just wasnt that much fun to drive. I may get another down the rode but for now I wanted something I could enjoy alot more.
Plus something about the all black, lopey cam and Cragars just screamed 70's.
Thanks

Re: Had to get back in a truck

Thinking of going with a 3/4 drop on the 295/50's. Not sure it will get as low as I want. Just wish I new what the current height compares to. It was pretty much stock height and needed a alignment badly. So I just heated these current springs to see how I liked it down. Gonna take it this week to have the suspension done.
Wondering if a 3/4 or 4/6 would be better and comparable to it current height?

Re: Had to get back in a truck

The wheels and tires like perfect on that truck. I hope you don't go with 18+" wheels and forklift tires... Having meat in the fenderwells looks killer on these old trucks.

No I'm leaving the Cragars and tires on the truck.

So, are you going to go talk some sense in to Justin36, who is also from your neck of the woods, and sold his sweet '67 to get a Biscayne? Lol

Re: Had to get back in a truck

Just ordered 2.5 drop spindles, 1in drop springs in front, 4in springs for rears and drop shocks. Hope it's down enough. Tires are only 26.5 tall with the 15x10 and 295/50's all around. Sould ride better none the less

So will this lower it more than it currently is?
Awesome vid. I love that lumpy idle it just sounds so mean.

I'm a novice please explain some of these terms "3/4 drop". Does this mean lowered 3 inches in the front and 4 inches in the rear?
You mentioned that "It was pretty much stock height and needed a alignment badly" Did you take these pics and vid before or after you took a torch to the springs?

Vid was before I torched them, pics are after. It may be higher after I put the kit I bought on it. I love the stance right now but I have no clue how much it's actually lowered. If its not down enough and my front tires have clearance I may be cutting a coil of each one. Well see.

Yes the 3/4 means 3 in the front 4 in the rear.
